Exploring the Galapagos with Mark Vins

Join Mark Vins, founder of the hit YouTube channel Brave Wilderness and a guide to more than 21 million subscribers worldwide, for an exclusive U.S. premiere screening of his debut feature documentary, Reef to Ridge. Filmed across the Galápagos Islands, the film follows Vins and his team on a high-stakes, ten-day expedition into a world shaped by volcanic forces. From diving to the ocean floor to check on endangered marine life to racing up the slopes of an active volcano to track wildlife above, their journey unfolds in the aftermath of a real volcanic eruption. After 12 years of bringing audiences face-to-face with the natural world, Vins takes his in-field storytelling to the big screen for the first time. Stay after the screening for a live Q&A with Mark Vins and members of the film team, then meet him in person at an exclusive meet & greet. Experience Reef to Ridge on the big screen—and be among the first in the U.S. to see it.

The Lost Cache — A Special Screening and Filmmaker Conversation

What if something thought to be lost for more than 80 years is still waiting beneath the ice? In 1937, legendary mountaineer, photographer, and cartographer Bradford Washburn made the first ascent of Mount Lucania, one of the great feats of early North American mountaineering. Forced to abandon a cache of equipment on the Walsh Glacier—including his beloved Fairchild F-8 aerial camera—Washburn always hoped to return. But the glacier had other plans. More than eight decades later, skier Griffin Post, glaciologist Dora Medrzycka, and a team of skiers, scientists, and explorers venture deep into the remote Yukon to find out whether Washburn’s lost treasures might still be there. The Lost Cache is more than a search for forgotten gear. It’s a story about curiosity, obsession, risk, discovery, and the questions that can endure across generations. As the team navigates a landscape shaped by constantly moving glaciers and a changing climate, the improbable begins to feel just possible. Join for a special screening of this forthcoming documentary—presented in the very place where this remarkable story is connected to the Museum’s own history—followed by a conversation with the director and filmmaking team.

An Evening with Jacob Collier

Join us for the inaugural performance at the William and Charlotte Bloomberg Public Science Common with a truly singular evening featuring one of the most inventive and boundary-pushing artists of our time: Jacob Collier. Beloved by audiences, musicians, and critics around the world, the seven-time GRAMMY winner is a singer-songwriter, producer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, and world-builder whose fearless approach to music has redefined what a live musical experience can be. Jacob will join us for an intimate fireside chat, and a full-length performance set specially designed and imagined for the Bloomberg Public Science Common and the Museum of Science. Known for transforming concert halls into collective instruments- improvising with audiences, collaborating across genres, and finding musical possibilities where others see limitations- Jacob brings a spirit of curiosity, connection, and joyful experimentation to everything he creates. His latest album, The Light For Days, finds him turning inward, exploring the intimacy and possibilities of his signature Taylor acoustic guitars. It offers a glimpse into another side of an artist whose work continually asks: What else is possible? Join us for the beginning of something new—an evening where music, technology, creativity, and human connection come together in the Bloomberg Public Science Common.

The Happiness Lab Live with Dr. Laurie Santos and Ali Truwit

What does it really take to build a happier life—and how do we find hope when life doesn’t go according to plan? Based on Dr. Santos’ course at Yale University, the most popular course in its 300-year history, the night will draw on the latest psychology research, exploring what truly makes us happier—and challenge common assumptions that money, career success, or picture-perfect experiences are the keys to a more fulfilling life. Featuring special guest, Ali Truwit, medal winning Paralympian who also went to Yale and has an amazing story of resilience after surviving a shark attack days after graduating from college. Through a conversation about resilience, perspective, connection, and active hope, Santos and Truwit will explore how we can navigate adversity while still making space for joy, meaning, and possibility. Come curious. Leave inspired—and with a few science-backed ideas for a happier life.
