The Listening Room: Cultivate with Komai

Garden of Emotion is a full band journey into healing, self-love, and intentional listening--blending jazz, song, spoken word, and open conversation into a meditative group experience, with plants filling the stage and audio-reactive visuals deepening the atmosphere. Boston-based artist and producer Komai creates space for audiences to tend to themselves, presented as part of The Listening Room, an intimate performance series hosted at The Substation in collaboration with Citixen Joy. The Listening Room: Nurture the Seed with Christopher Carlos Montejo y Los Mambiseros

Every root begins somewhere. Las Tres Matanceras traces three generations of Cuban women through Cuban musical tradition, free jazz, and archival video--a sonic family portrait honoring the seeds of intergenerational motherhood, immigration, and diaspora that make us who we are. Composer and bandleader Christopher Carlos Montejo leads his ensemble Los Mambiseros through a performance arc rooted in ancestral memory, presented as part of The Listening Room, an intimate performance series hosted at The Substation in collaboration with Citixen Joy. At this event, you'll also get first access to Mob--a Boston-based app that matches you with people who actually get you. Come for the connection, stay for the vibe. <a href="https://www.citixenjoy.com/">Citixen Joy</a>&nbsp;presents Somer Fest 2025, a community festival featuring culturally rich entertainment for the local community by highlighting people of color. The fifth annual iteration of the free performance art festival occurs on Saturday, August 2nd from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Seven Hills Park behind the Davis Square MBTA station. Pull up to enjoy live music, games and more! This festival is supported by amazing partners at the&nbsp;<a href="https://somervilleartscouncil.org/">Somerville Arts Council</a> and <a href="tbf.org">The Boston Foundation</a>. <a href="https://www.citixenjoy.com">Citixen Joy</a> and <a href="https://www.1hourparty.com">1 Hour Party, Inc.</a> are thrilled to partner for 1 Hour Play Date, a dynamic pop-up event designed to connect young families and spotlight vendors and performers of color. The event is divided into two sessions with timed-entry to maximize the window for busy families to get involved. Activities are geared towards children ages two through 10.
