The Seasons

A group of contemporary artists comes to a retreat in nature to make their art. They feel the emotional weather inside of them more than they feel the weather outside of them. But extreme weather impacts them without warning and changes their lives forever.&nbsp;The Seasons&nbsp;is a meditation on the relationship between our contemporary moment and Vivaldi’s iconic music, which appreciated the harmonious seasons. Vivaldi’s&nbsp;Four Seasons, paired with additional arias and ensembles by the composer, becomes an occasion for seeing our own disordered seasons more clearly. In the lands of ancient Egypt, commander Radamès must choose between his love for the Ethiopian princess Aida and his loyalty to his sovereign king. In this specially staged concert,&nbsp;Aida&nbsp;will captivate audiences with its heartrending arias, dramatic duets, and some of the most thrilling choral works ever to be performed. BLO Music Director&nbsp;David Angus&nbsp;takes the helm of this production that features&nbsp;Michelle Johnson&nbsp;as Aida,&nbsp;Diego Torre&nbsp;as Radamès,&nbsp;Alice Chung&nbsp;as Amneris,&nbsp;Morris Robinson&nbsp;as Ramfis, and&nbsp;Brian Major&nbsp;as Amonasro. Mitridate

Passions and rivalries collide in this star studded production of Mozart’s rarely performed work. When family patriarch Mitridate is presumed dead, his children Farnace and Sifare return home to stake claims to his money, his power — and his fiancée Aspasia. With a bristling score written by Mozart at the age of 14, Mitridate explores the tensions of a fractured family amidst jealousy, aging, betrayal, and desire. BLO Music Director&nbsp;David Angus&nbsp;conducts and stage director&nbsp;James Darrah&nbsp;leads an extraordinary cast that includes&nbsp;Brenda Rae&nbsp;as Aspasia,&nbsp;John Holiday&nbsp;as Farnace, and celebrated tenor&nbsp;Lawrence Brownlee&nbsp;in the title role.

We heard how much you loved BLO’s last PRIMA Trivia Night, so we’re bringing it back again this year! Join fellow young opera fans, arts enthusiasts, and trivia buffs alike at Boston Lyric Opera’s Headquarters for a fun, friendly evening featuring light bites, socializing, and our one-of a-kind BLO opera trivia game. Designed for players of all skill levels (including those with no prior opera knowledge!), teams will tackle topics ranging from opera in pop culture to fun facts about Boston’s music scene. Your $25 registration includes buffet-style food and drink and a reserved spot on a group trivia team. You’ll also have opportunities to mingle and make new friends while getting a peek at BLO’s upcoming season and perhaps even discovering new favorites to add to your playlist. And of course, there are prizes! Winning team members will each get a single subscription package of their choice for the 2024/25 season, a value of more than $350! In Bartók’s psychological thriller, Bluebeard attempts to hide the horrors of his previous life from his bride Judith, while Mahler’s Four Songs gives a new perspective to Judith’s motivations. Pairing these two pieces together shines a new light on this gripping story that’s sure to have you on the edge of your seat.
