This is an Emergency. Scientists say we have entered a period of abrupt climate and ecological breakdown. We have very little time to avoid societal collapse. In our Heading for Extinction Talk, we share the science, explore how governments and corporations are lying to us, and invite you to join the movement and help turn the tide. Humanity needs you! The talk will begin at 3:15pm. Come at 3:00 for plant-based snacks and hot drinks! (Bonus points if you bring your own mug ;) The talk is interactive and lasts approximately 1 hour. There will be time for questions and discussion during and afterwards.

Calling Out Monster Banks: Stop Funding Ecocide & Genocide

It’s the time of year for facing the vile and scary: monsters, specters, and things that go bump in the night. Who better for us to face with courage than a Monster Bank? Monster Banks invest in monstrous things -- climate catastrophe and genocide in Palestine. We demand the banks divest completely from fossil fuel projects and the Israeli war machine. Join us on Thursday, October 30 at 3pm at Bank of America Financial Center in downtown Boston to protest bank investments. In addition to our standout, we'll perform a die-in to help visually show the impact monster banks have on people and the planet. A brass band will set the somber mood, and short speeches will amplify our demands. Wear black if you can. Rally, Die-in & Dance Party for Mass. Climate Action Now!

For over a year, XR Boston has held a Stand-Out in front of the State House, urging our government to make the right move for our future, and commit to No New Fossil Fuel Infrastructure in Massachusetts. Despite this, our leaders have failed to listen to us. Despite a climate bill being on the table, our leaders have failed to pass it.&nbsp;So, it's time to get loud. Join us on Friday, September 27 at 5:30pm! (rescheduled from Thurs. Sept 26) We'll start with a&nbsp;rally, with short speeches from XR and coalition partners. Why is this fight so important, how are we waging it, and how you can get involved! We'll continue with a&nbsp;die-in, lying on the ground to die symbolically, representing the people and animals who will (and are) dying from avoidable ecological emergencies. If you've never participated in civil disobedience, this is an easy, accessible way to try it out! Remember to wear clothes suitable for lying on the ground. We'll end with&nbsp;pizza&nbsp;and a&nbsp;dance party&nbsp;in front of the State House, making resistance fun again. We'll lead a simple warm-up exercise, then move into free form dancing. Don't worry about your moves, this is about having fun and embracing your free spirit! Register to help us with planning and be informed of any schedule changes. Earth Day 2024 Party for the Planet

This Earth Day, we party for the planet! Join Extinction Rebellion Boston and a host of climate action organizations for a lively celebration. This is an all-ages event featuring - art, music, games (including giant Jenga), face painting, dancing, and an art-filled march through the streets to share our love of the planet — and the need for greater action to protect it. We will gather on the Greenway at the Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park at 4pm and party in the park for an hour. At 5pm we will transition to a cheerful and energetic march in the streets! Join us in celebration, love, and rage for the planet! Rain Date: Friday, April 26 This event is family-friendly! If you want, come dressed as your favorite endangered species or help carry one of our animal puppets! Accessibility: This event will take place in accessible public spaces.

In our "How To Save The Planet" talk, we share the latest climate science, explain how governments and corporations are lying to us, and invite you to join the movement and help turn the tide. We, Extinction Rebellion Boston, are people from all kinds of backgrounds. We have decided we cannot remain in denial about how serious and urgent the situation is and we need you to spread the word and take action. Humanity needs you! The talk will be approximately 1 hour and there will be time for questions afterwards. We'll meet in the Community Room at the West Branch of the Somerville Public Library (left and downstairs at the main entrance).

COP28: Unite Against Climate Failure

Join Extinction Rebellion, Scientist Rebellion and allies to protest decades of leadership failure in the ‘Conferences of the Parties’ (COP) that are supposed to save the planet from overheating. Atmospheric and oceanic carbon have increased in lockstep with global warming. We are five years away from consistently passing the 1.5 degree centigrade mark that world leaders – and scientists - say is necessary to protect us from rapidly escalating catastrophes. The disasters are already devastating many locales every year, while the sixth mass extinction escalates. And still, from Massachusetts to Washington DC to all major nations, those same leaders dither and dally, continue to “blah, blah, blah.” COP28, which starts November 30, sadly promises more of the same. Join us to protest the failures, demand necessary action from leaders, and promise to take ever stronger steps to force those “leaders” to actually lead or get out of the way. We will assemble at the State House at noon, joining XR Boston’s ongoing Stand Out. At 1:00, we will walk through downtown, handing out flyers and talking with passersby, until 2:00. Critical Mass Day at State House Stand-Out

Stand with us on Critical Mass Day! This is a great event for climate-conscious folks who want to make a risk-free statement. XR Boston has been organizing a <a href="https://xrboston.org/action/state-house-stand-out/">Perpetual State House Stand-Out</a> (9-5, every business day) with volunteers from a coalition of climate and community groups. We are demanding that our leadership take immediate action to ban new fossil fuel infrastructure. In full public view, we process climate grief, sing, engage passersby in conversation. On Critical Mass Day, we'll have our normal Stand-Out in the morning, then we'll gather for a lunchtime celebration at 12:30, after which we'll all write postcards and deliver them to Governor Healey in a giant group around 2 pm! We'll clean up and head home around 4:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to join for any portion of the day. Feel free to bring your favorite anti-fossil-fuel signs and banners, and a dish to share at our lunchtime potluck! We encourage all Stand-Outers to bring their own water bottles and utensils.
