This season, they collaborate on a captivating musical journey, spotlighting compositions by women from Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, and Cuba. Featuring a poignant song cycle by Boston-based composer Omar Najmi with text by Dominican-American poet Alondra Bobadilla, the 2020 Boston Youth Laureate. “Through My Eyes: Sounds of the Americas” not only promises a profound concert experience but also enriches our community by celebrating diversity and inclusivity. This program will resonate deeply with listeners, offering a cultural bridge for audiences in New England and beyond. The concert is free. A suggested donation of $25 would be appreciated.

Film and Discussion: Stamped from the Beginning:  The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America

The Forum for Racial Equity's Dignity Collaborative in Hyde Park and the Roslindale Congregational Church is co-hosting a film and community discussion. Stamped from the Beginning&nbsp;is a film based on a best-selling book and body of work by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi. The film fuses stories and commentaries from leading female scholars to explore the history of anti-Black racist ideas. Evening Program:&nbsp;<ul><li>5:00–5:30 p.m.: Check-in/Meet and Greet</li><li>5:30–7:00 p.m.:&nbsp;Film Set Up and Viewing</li><li>7:00–7:20 p.m.:&nbsp;Special Remarks with time for Q&amp;A</li><li>7:20–8:00 p.m.:&nbsp;Community Salon and Post Film Reception</li></ul>Refreshments will be served. The event will take place at our church located at 25 Cummins Highway, Roslindale (one block from Adams Park). There is plenty of on-street parking and the church is accessible by an MBTA bus route.

Holiday Organ Concert & Sing-Along

The Roslindale Congregational Church in Roslindale is hosting a festive fundraiser this holiday season to preserve our 1961 William Patchel organ. Enjoy the music of Bach, Daquin, and Pachelbel performed by our minister of music and accomplished organist Juan Mesa Phd. The evening will also include a holiday sing-along of carols. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free, but a donation of $20 per person or per family is appreciated. There is plenty of free onstreet parking on Cummins Highway.

Mood Swings Orchestra

The Mood Swings, Boston's only all-women swing jazz band, performs a concert to fight food insecurity in the community at Roslindale and Hyde Park on Saturday, November 18 at 7pm. Stories of Resilience: Women Composers of the Baroque

Join early music ensemble Le Note Diverse as they present a program of vocal and instrumental pieces by women composers from 17th-century Italy. The program will feature works by Francesca Caccini, Isabella Leonarda, Barbara Strozzi, and Maddalena Casulana. The performers are Agnes Coakley Cox, soprano; Juan A. Mesa, keyed lyre; and Hideki Yamaya, theorbo and Baroque mandolin. This concert is free and open to all (suggested donation: $20).

Le Note Diverse: Performs Music by Baroque Composer Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757)

Le Note Diverse is a Baroque duo of Juan Mesa on harpsichord and Hideki Yamaya on the Baroque 6-course mandolin. They will perform a concert of music by famed Baroque composer Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757). The program includes Scarlatti's work, including solo harpsichord and sonatas for mandolin and continuo. Also included in the program are works by unknown composer Giuseppe Vaccari, and fantasias by well-known composer Georg Phillip Telemann. Free admission; suggested donation $20 per adult There is plenty of on street parking. The closest bus stop is on Washington St.
