Artist Bio: Sara Eakman is a Boston-based actor, vocalist, and tae kwon do black belt. She is a frequent collaborator of Deadword Theatre Co., recently appearing as Anne in Home Life, Hespira in Medea, and Casca in Julius Caesar. Naked SARA is her first original show, and first show she has developed for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Lucky Gold Jr. & Werewolf

Two East-Coast-via-Ohio based indie projects will be rocking the Rockwell on August 11th with support from a secret special guest! Lucky Gold Jr. is a folk-rock project led by Massachusetts-based singer-songwriter Ellie Fallon, with frequent live and recorded support from her sibling Mimi Fallon on bass, and producer, instrumentalist, &amp; friend Ollie Peterson. Fallon has anchored her sound to nostalgia’s ephemera, unraveling unique experiences with familiar language. She writes about everything from failure to fandom with a perspective informed by hope, and a sound inspired by her collaborators and musical fixations alike. Oliver Peterson, under the name Werewolf, records alone from his carpet-padded garage in Stamford, Connecticut. Through one-wire systems, meticulously-crafted ambient textures, and natural melodic sensibilities, Peterson produces a sophisticated sound that ascends the parts of its sum, and escapes time and place while kneeling in worship to it. Werewolf marries the grounded – acoustic guitars, crunchy drums, raw vocals – with the ethereal – swirling drones, surreally visceral lyricism, abstract visual components – to build a dream pop, shoegaze, indie-rock vision that is entirely his own.

For some it takes years, for Abby Holliday it was there from the start. Her vulnerable introspection and brutal lyricism combined with mind-bending sonic sensibilities and a distinct production style immediately fused a bond between her and her loyal fan base. Holliday masterfully guides listeners through moments in time extremely specific to her own life that puts words to collective experiences of the human condition, reaching into places we might not have known existed prior. “Former cheer captain” isn’t something you always see on the resume of a rising, alternative singer-songwriter. For Charli Adams, who grew up across several small towns in rural Alabama, an outward display of optimism might have been the only way to get by. Charli Adams was born in a dollar-store town in northern Alabama, the kind of place you might hear Kacey Musgraves sing about. “I didn’t grow up in a musical family, but when I wrote my first song it clicked for me,” she says.”| could be melodramatic about my life in a way l hadn’t in any other form of expression. When I wrote music, I felt like I could say it all. Songwriting is essentially my only outlet to be unfiltered.”

Wrestling with the Written Word: A Clown & Physical Theatre Workshop with Sheriden Thomas

It is, and is not the words. It’s the situation. You, your partner(s), and imagination in the moment are the situation…. We will be fooling around with written words, using the Dynamics, the Complicities, the Clown Personas, and the Tension States, as a fruitful path for mining the physical and the fun. Very brief texts of Will Shakespeare &amp; Sam Beckett will be supplied…. And you can bring your own. A monologue, a scene, a poem, a manifesto. It’s all grist, darlin’. ARTIST BIO: Over several decades, Sheriden has acted under Actor’s Equity Contracts in the nation’s regional theatres. Starting in the 70’s, playing ingénues for the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis to Boston’s Moonbox Productions, garnering a Boston Critics Award for Kimberly in Kimberly Akimbo. Recently, in film, she played two old ladies. One in Tiffany Paulson’s About Fate and another in Eric Aronson’s Any Day Now about the Gardner Museum heist. It’s now streaming on Amazon Prime. Sheriden has directed and taught acting at Cornell and Southern Methodist Universities. Since arriving in Boston, she directed plays and readings for Another Country, Queer Soup Productions, and Boston Playwrights’ Theatre. As Senior Lecturer Emerita, at Tufts University, she taught a variety of acting courses including Advanced Acting Lab, Shakespeare, Mask, Physical Comedy, and Acting as Career. She directed a dozen plays, concluding with an edited video of Jeffrey Hatcher’s delightfully, silly adaptation of The Government Inspector. Sheriden has directed professionally for the Shakespeare Festival of Dallas, Mother Jones in Chicago, Company Theatre in Los Angeles, Manhattan Class, and WOW Cafe in New York City. She will be directing The Beauty Queen of Leenane for Theater Uncorked this November at Boston Center for the Arts.

Andrew Mayer: Have Fun, Be Yourself

Have Fun, Be Yourself is a “wonderfully layered” stand-up/storytelling show centered around three dates with the same woman (one great, one dreadful, and one six years later). Andrew also tackles topics including his upbringing, his (ongoing) struggles with anxiety, and the concept of confidence. ARTIST SOCIAL MEDIA: @mayercomedy Andrew Mayer is a Boston-based comedian who has been touring the United States and internationally since 2004. He has featured in a number of prestigious stateside comedy festivals, including the Bridgetown and Seattle Comedy Festivals, and is a former winner of the Boston Comedy Festival. His 2020 album, Having a Nice Time, can be heard regularly on Sirius XM satellite radio.

Experimental Sketch Workshop with Andy Miara

If you’re a sketch writer, performer, director or teacher who is interested in process, experimentation and discovery, this workshop is for you! This full day session will operate like a professional sketch rehearsal with a focus on material generation and productive exploration. Through writing, improvisation and on-our-feet exercises, we’ll play with a range of techniques to create material. Participants will leave with new creative tools, and new ways to approach writing, performing and developing sketch. Participants should have some prior experience with sketch comedy. A comfort with improvisation is a plus. Come ready to play and let’s see what we can make together! ABOUT ANDY: Andy Miara is a former director for The Second City in Chicago where he also served as a core writing instructor in the Second City Training Center. He is a former head writer of The Onion News Network and co-creator of The Onion’s sister site, Clickhole.com. Alongside Tim Robinson and Mark Raterman, Miara co-founded the sketch group My Mans. The trio developed pilots for Comedy Central and Adult Swim, and created The Thanksgiving House, an immersive theater show in Los Angeles produced by Funny or Die and IFC. Miara has written on animated comedies including Robot Chicken and SuperMansion, and has developed original projects with NBC, TBS, truTV, and Cartoon Network. Most recently, he co-wrote and directed the scripted audio series Get It To Dutch for iHeart Media, and currently has an animated pilot in development at Fox starring Tim Robinson and Cecily Strong. Miara is an Assistant Professor of Screenwriting at Emerson College.

Thom Tran

Thom Tran is a Los Angeles–based comedian, actor, musician, and U.S. Army combat veteran whose stand-up career began after surviving a gunshot wound to the back of the head while deployed to Iraq. Following his medical retirement, Tran relocated to Los Angeles in 2008 and quickly immersed himself in the comedy scene. He went on to found The GIs of Comedy, an internationally touring, all-military veteran stand-up group that has performed for U.S. service members stationed and deployed in combat zones worldwide. The group was featured on Larry Charles’ Dangerous World of Comedy (Netflix) and has appeared on CBS and NBC. As a solo act, Tran tours nationally and internationally, including dates across Europe with longtime collaborator Brad Williams, performing in Denmark, Norway, England, Ireland, and beyond. His material blends sharp observational humor with lived experience, delivered with discipline and timing honed both on stage and in service. Based in Hollywood, Tran is a regular at premier clubs including the World Famous Laugh Factory and the Comedy &amp; Magic Club, in addition to theaters and venues throughout Southern California. On screen, Tran has co-starred on NCIS: Los Angeles and SEAL Team (CBS) and appears in the feature film My Dead Friend Zoe alongside Morgan Freeman, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Ed Harris.

Tiny Idea Live! is a sketch comedy show by Ann Nelson, Eva Nemiroff, and Hrannar Björnsson, featuring all-new live sketches and never-before-seen videos! Tiny Idea’s videos have gotten more than 100 million views and have been featured in Vulture. They currently write for Dropout’s Game Changer and Make Some Noise. The trio has a combined age of 80 and has been described by a TikTok comment as “three of the most average-looking people I’ve ever seen.”

Gus Heagerty, Live! Is This the New Me?

Gus Heagerty is a comedian, actor and director based in New York. The New Yorker described his performances as “miracles of detail”. He has gained an ardent following online for his observational comedy videos. He recently recurred on the NBC series Stumble. As a director, his work has been seen at the Williamstown Theater Festival, Playwrights Horizons, HERE Arts Center, and the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts. He recently featured for Nick Kroll, and can be seen performing live across the country.

Kellie Moon &amp; Friends features an all-star cast of Boston comedians for a special night of improv! Madison Gillis, Steph Simon, and Rhett Sosebee are some of Kellie’s most loyal friends, and just like you, they have nothing better to do on a Monday night than go to this show.
