Zine Workshop

Join the Boston Liberation Center and the Black Girl Environmentalist Boston HUB for a Zine Workshop! Learn about the significance of zines as tools that provide a safe, independent platform of expression for marginalized voices outside the capitalist system. We will learn about zine usage in Black and Indigenous communities, in the environmental justice space, and make some zines ourselves! This event is centering the attendance of Black and Indigenous girls, women, and gender-expansive people.

Black Girl Environmentalist Bird Watch & Hike

Join Black Girl Environmentalist and nature and wildlife photographer Michael Bryant (@naturemanmike) for a bird watch and hike in Franklin Park. Please check the weather the day of for how to dress, wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring water. If you have binoculars, please bring them. This event is centering the audience of Black girls, women, and gender-expansive people. Friends and families are welcome! Address: Franklin Park. Meeting location: Meet by the tennis courts next to the Shattuck Picnic Grove on Circuit Drive. Google "Shattuck Picnic Grove, Boston, MA" for GPS navigation.  Other notes: Street parking is available and our meeting point is accessible via public transportation.  Hike information: Expect to walk 4 miles on paved and rocky surfaces with some incline. The nearest restrooms are at the Franklin Park Golf Course. This is a beginner friendly hike/walk. In the event of heavy rain, the walk will be canceled.  Have any questions, comments, or concerns? This is a great opportunity to build connections within our Boston Black environmentalist community. Black Girl Environmentalist Kayaking + Picnic

Kayak with Black Girl Environmentalist (BGE) on the Charles with Paddle Boston followed by a networking picnic thanks to Life Alive Cafe. This event centers Black girls, women, and gender-expansive people. Space is limited. Kayaking starts at 2:30 pm and the picnic starts at 5:00 pm. Join us for one or both parts of this event. Black Girl Environmentalist Volunteer Gardening!

Join Black Girl Environmentalist (BGE) in volunteering with the Boston Food Forest Coalition (BFFC)! We will get a tour of the Boston Nature Center Food Forest, learn about BFFC and help with some projects. We'll get our hands dirty with activities varying from weeding, watering, planting, and eating plants! All supplies will be provided. All skill levels are welcome. Please bring water and clothes you don't mind getting dirty in. We will also have some Jamaican food to enjoy together. All BGE members will be entered into a raffle for a Red Sox ticket.
