“Pencils Up!” Porter Square Books Writer’s Hour 

Hello Writing Enthusiasts! “Pencils Up!” is an informal monthly gathering for anyone interested in writing. Whether you’re a casual journaler or a poet laureate, join us for an hour of silent writing (and a few minutes of optional sharing at the end). Bring something you’re already working on or start something new (informal prompts will be provided). Pencils, pens, and actual paper are encouraged! YA Book Club

Please join us for the return of PSB's Young Adult (YA) Book Club! Meetings with be led by bookseller Kaliisha. The YA book club focuses on books from a variety of genres such as fantasy, contemporary, mystery, and science fiction that are all written for and star young adults aged 13-18 years old. This book club is open to all ages! In February, the group will read <a href="https://portersquarebooks.com/book/9780593571583">Love Craves Cardamom (Love in Translation #2)</a> by Aashna Avachat. TICKETED: James Ponti, author of Europa (City Spies #7), in conversation with Raúl the Third 

Porter Square Books&nbsp;is thrilled to welcome James Ponti for the release of his latest book in the City Spies series, <a href="https://portersquarebooks.com/book/9781665959988">Europa</a>. Author Raúl the Third will join Ponti in conversation. This event will take place at OFFSITE at St. James Episcopal Church in Cambridge. Doors open at 1:30 pm. Use the entrance located on Beech Street (near 7 Beech Street). <a href="https://portersquarebooks.com/products/tags/event-ticket">TICKETS</a> This event is&nbsp;TICKETED. Each ticket includes admission for 1 kid plus 1 adult/guardian, as well as one copy of a City Spies book (your choice from books 1-6 or the newest one, Europa). Additional copies of Europa and the previous books in the series will be available for purchase at the event. James will sign and personalize books following the event. SIGNING James will sign and personalize copies of his books after the event, both the book included with your event ticket as well as copies brought from home. PARKING We recommend taking public transit due to the limited parking in Cambridge. However, if you plan to drive, you can park in our store lot where there is limited parking. From there, the venue is a 6 minute walk. We will have parking validation slips at check-in. Our store lot is located on Roseland St. behind Lesley's University Hall. Roseland Street is accessible by Beacon Street and Mass Ave. When you arrive at the lot, use the screen on the gate to get a ticket. When you check in to the event, ask for a validation barcode. Parking is free on weekends and weekday evenings from 6PM-7AM. From 7AM-6PM on weekdays the first 45 minutes are free.&nbsp; After the event, scan your ticket at one of the kiosks located in the building and choose "validation." Then scan the barcode your received from us. If you have an additional charge, you will be prompted to pay after scanning your barcode. The public safety desk located near the kiosks can help with any parking validation issues.

Book Swap at PSB: Boston Edition

Do you have a bunch of books hanging out that you know you're not going to read again? Trade them with other readers for new books! Come by Porter Square Books: Boston Edition with up to three books and leave with the same number. How the swap works: Each attendee will be able to given one number per book they bring, and then each person will get to pick a book from the table in the front. Please note: you must leave with the same number of books you arrived with! You cannot leave unwanted books at the store! This event started out as part of our Winter Event Series and was so popular that we're continuing it year-round and for our second winter season. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase at Travelmug Cafe!

Broadway Books TV Pilot Screening

PSB: Boston Edition is thrilled to host a screening of the pilot episode of Broadway Books, a sitcom set in New York City, about an independent bookstore struggling to survive using increasingly desperate measures. Starring Lauren Servideo, Ruby McCollister, Nick Naney, Eric Yates and Carlos Dengler, the pilot follows the team as they try to raise the numbers for that night’s Malcolm Gladwell reading. (Meanwhile, Nick accuses Pierre of not having read his staff picks).  A Q&amp;A with writer/director Carianne King will follow the screening. This event will take place at our BOSTON store.
