In this hands on workshop, you'll learn what exactly a zine is and what it has to do with queer and trans liberation. Then, you will learn how to make your very own queer zine! To get some context, we will take a brief look at the history of queer and trans zines as well as the present day zine scene. Then you will learn how to fold one sheet of paper into an eight-page zine that is easy to make copies of for distribution. This program is for Pride month and brought to you by Pleasure Pie, a sex positive educational organization. You don't have to be queer to have a great time at this workshop. Consent & Pleasure Workshop

This workshop is a pleasure-inclusive introduction to understanding consent. In this workshop we will brainstorm (and practice!) many ways of asking for consent, saying yes, and saying no, so you can find at least one of each that works for you. We'll explore how getting consent can be a fun, sexy conversation where you learn about what your partner likes and wants. We'll also look at different ways to gracefully accept a "no" that help the person saying no feel respected, and minimize awkwardness. Great sex happens when everyone involved is confident that their partner(s) are 100% on board with every sexy thing that happens. Learn to get comfortable communicating about sex, and you may find that you enjoy sex more! This event is intended for adults of all ages.

This workshop is geared toward adults and teens.

Embracing Pleasure: A Queer Self Love Workshop

Pleasure is important. It connects us to ourselves and the world around us, nourishes our mental health, and makes us feel alive! But if you look to mainstream society as your guide, you might think that pleasure is reserved for a very narrow set of people—cis, straight, white, thin, young, non-disabled folks (and above all, cis het men). Homophobia, transphobia, racism, fatphobia, ableism, etc. tell us that pleasure is not for us. In this workshop, we'll explore how we can practice accepting—and even loving—our queer selves. Then we'll delve into how we can use this self-acceptance and self-love as a foundation for getting in touch with our pleasure. We'll ask: "What would it look like if I threw out everything I've been told that pleasure is supposed to look like, and embraced my most authentic pleasure?" This workshop is a rallying cry to queer folks. We deserve to feel good—and we're not going to stop until we overcome every obstacle in the way of our collective queer joy and pleasure! About Pleasure Pie: Pleasure Pie is a small activist organization based in Boston, MA. Our efforts center around combating sexual shame, promoting consent education, and supporting folks who are working toward intersectional liberation. Sex Toys & Pleasure: Take Pleasure into Your Own Hands Workshop

Have you ever stopped to think about the fact that there are products designed with the sole purpose of providing sexual pleasure? That's pretty hot when you really think about it! For many of us, though, the wonderful world of sex toys can feel a bit intimidating. How do you know which toy is right for you? There are so many options! This workshop will give you the 101 on how you can use sex toys to explore your pleasure—alone or with a partner. We'll cover the basics: Different types of sex toys and their uses, which lube to use, and how to spot a low-quality toy. We'll also talk about why we think pleasure is so important. Questions are encouraged!​ FAQs Q: $$$$$? A: Tickets are on a sliding scale of $5-30. You are welcome to choose the price that you feel able to pay within that range. Join us for a celebration of local zine creativity and brilliance! This is a free event. We are excited to announce the official "coming out" of our Take-a-Zine Leave-a-Zine stand outside the armory in Somerville. The creation of the zine stand has been a wild ride. Sex-Positive Zine Making Workshop

In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn what exactly a zine is (spoiler: it's basically any kind of independently made small book or booklet, usually photocopied and bound by folding or stapling—though not always!). Then, you will learn how to use the zine (booklet) as a way to convey your sex-positive message, information, or story. To get some context, we will take a brief look at the role zines have played in activism over the years, as well as in the present day. Then you will learn how to fold one sheet of paper into an eight page zine that is easy to make copies of for distribution. We'll also explore and brainstorm various ways that you can get your zine to the people in the world who are interested in reading, viewing, studying, and/or adoring it (these people exist!). Some methods include using the internet, giving them out/selling them at events, circulating them via zine libraries, and more. Lastly, we'll investigate the ever-uncomfortable question, "How do I set a price for my creation?" We'll delve into how you can figure out what feels right to you in terms of pricing, sliding scale options, or distributing your zine for free. Covid details: Masks are required at the bookstore.
