Consent & Pleasure Workshop

This workshop is a pleasure-inclusive introduction to understanding consent. In this workshop we will brainstorm (and practice!) many ways of asking for consent, saying yes, and saying no, so you can find at least one of each that works for you. We'll explore how getting consent can be a fun, sexy conversation where you learn about what your partner likes and wants. We'll also look at different ways to gracefully accept a "no" that help the person saying no feel respected, and minimize awkwardness. Great sex happens when everyone involved is confident that their partner(s) are 100% on board with every sexy thing that happens. Learn to get comfortable communicating about sex, and you may find that you enjoy sex more! This event is intended for adults of all ages.

In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn what exactly a zine is (spoiler: it's basically any kind of independently made small book or booklet, usually photocopied and bound by folding or stapling—though not always!). Then, you will learn how to make your very own, very queer zine! To get some context, we will take a brief look at the history of zines, as well as the present-day zine scene. Then you will learn how to fold one sheet of paper into an eight page zine that is easy to make copies of for distribution. We'll also explore and brainstorm various ways that you can get your zine to the people in the world who are interested in reading, viewing, studying, and/or adoring it (these people exist!). Some methods include using the internet, giving them out/selling them at events, circulating them via zine libraries, and more. Lastly, we'll investigate the ever-uncomfortable question, "How do I set a price for my creation?" We'll delve into how you can figure out what feels right to you in terms of pricing, sliding scale options, or distributing your zine for free. A great way to celebrate Pride! This workshop is geared toward adults and teens.

Embracing Pleasure: A Queer Self Love Workshop

Pleasure is important. It connects us to ourselves and the world around us, nourishes our mental health, and makes us feel alive! But if you look to mainstream society as your guide, you might think that pleasure is reserved for a very narrow set of people—cis, straight, white, thin, young, non-disabled folks (and above all, cis het men). Homophobia, transphobia, racism, fatphobia, ableism, etc. tell us that pleasure is not for us. In this workshop, we'll explore how we can practice accepting—and even loving—our queer selves. Then we'll delve into how we can use this self-acceptance and self-love as a foundation for getting in touch with our pleasure. We'll ask: "What would it look like if I threw out everything I've been told that pleasure is supposed to look like, and embraced my most authentic pleasure?" This workshop is a rallying cry to queer folks. We deserve to feel good—and we're not going to stop until we overcome every obstacle in the way of our collective queer joy and pleasure! About Pleasure Pie: Pleasure Pie is a small activist organization based in Boston, MA. Our efforts center around combating sexual shame, promoting consent education, and supporting folks who are working toward intersectional liberation. Have you ever stopped to think about the fact that there are products designed with the sole purpose of providing sexual pleasure? That's pretty hot when you really think about it! For many of us, though, the wonderful world of sex toys can feel a bit intimidating. How do you know which toy is right for you? There are so many options! This workshop will give you the 101 on how you can use sex toys to explore your pleasure—alone or with a partner. We'll cover the basics: Different types of sex toys and their uses, which lube to use, and how to spot a low-quality toy. We'll also talk about why we think pleasure is so important. Questions are encouraged!​ FAQs Q: $$$$$? A: Tickets are on a sliding scale of $5-30. You are welcome to choose the price that you feel able to pay within that range. Wade was overturned, and we are as committed as ever to promoting abortion access. Join Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of MA and Pleasure Pie for an evening of making care baskets for folks who have just had an abortion. All materials will be provided. Pleasure Pie will also be releasing our newest zine, Abortion Saves Lives (&amp; Other Things You Should Know About Reproductive Justice). There will be a few short, spirited presentations on reproductive justice topics by some of the zine contributors. There will also be a goodie bag station with free tiny zines and other fun things to take home with you. *Be sure to <a href="https://bpl.bibliocommons.com/events/646bb79973e31d2900b7ea9e">RSVP here</a> to save your spot!* Join Nicole Mazzeo and Aren Briggs from Pleasure Pie for a Queer Zine Workshop! In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn what exactly a zine is (spoiler: it's basically any kind of independently made small book or booklet, usually photocopied and bound by folding or stapling—though not always!). Then, you will learn how to make your very own, very queer zine! We will take a brief look at the history of zines, as well as the present-day zine scene. Then you will learn how to fold one sheet of paper into an eight page zine that is easy to make copies of for distribution. We'll also explore and brainstorm various ways that you can get your zine to the people in the world who are interested in reading, viewing, studying, and/or adoring it (these people exist!). Some methods include using the internet, giving them out/selling them at events, circulating them via zine libraries, and more. Lastly, we'll investigate the ever-uncomfortable question, "How do I set a price for my creation?" We'll delve into how you can figure out what feels right to you in terms of pricing, sliding scale options, or distributing your zine for free.

Little Free Library + Take-a-Zine Inauguration Ceremony

Join us on May 11th at 5:30pm until 6pm for an Inauguration Ceremony for a Little Library and Take-a-Zine stand to be installed in front of the Armory building. The Take-a-Zine Leave-a-Zine Project, Pleasure Pie, and Mass Makers are partnering with the Center for Arts at the Armory to install a Zine Stand specifically for zines and other printed matter by independent artists. The Take-a-Zine Leave-a-Zine Project (@takeazine on Instagram) plants community-run bookstands across Massachusetts to foster the trade of zines, art books, and printed matter. Pleasure Pie (<a href="http://pleasurepie.org/?fbclid=IwAR20D6dK3qvaTDLQzXQTlR3sgUj8ouwVx_2pJfU9CHda--97CvJlYv5YPWc">pleasurepie.org</a> &amp; @pleasurepie on Instagram) is a small sexual justice organization that makes zines and fosters community around sexual freedom and zines in the Boston area, and is coordinating this collaboration. Mass Makers (<a href="http://mass-makers.com/?fbclid=IwAR1fNJI1lq0wpxBpnB5TCMg3CFNT-1zRYdViJyKam4TmEo7Ey0x_aKSWFLw">mass-makers.com</a> &amp; @mass.makers on Instagram) is a foundry for collaborative, artist driven fabrication and experimentation, based in Boston, and have volunteered to build and install the library.
