Join us for an unforgettable evening of gorgeous music,&nbsp;bel canto&nbsp;singing, hijinks and hilarity as Pico Opera presents our fall performance of&nbsp;Il Conte Ory.&nbsp;This intimate, fully staged production will be performed in Italian with English titles, accompanied by our one-man orchestra, Pianist Andrew Wang. All seats will be within 10 rows of the stage on stadium seating, ensuring a fully immersive and truly unique opera experience. Synopsis:&nbsp;When all the men depart for war, the cunning Count Ory seizes his opportunity to pursue the beautiful Countess Adèle. He concocts absurd disguises to get close to her—first masquerading as a wise hermit who dispenses love advice, then dressing up as a nun named "Sister Colette" who seeks shelter from a storm. Things become uproarious when Ory and his companions, still dressed as nuns, plunder the castle's wine cellar and must pretend to pray whenever someone checks on them. Ory even attempts to romance the countess in the dark, not realizing he's actually holding hands with his rival, Isolier. Founded in 2023, Pico Opera is a nonprofit opera company performing intimate productions of bel canto masterworks in the Boston/Cambridge area. General Admission: $25 / Students and Seniors: $20 In a quaint little village, peasant Nemorino hopelessly dreams of nothing more than for the beautiful and sharp-witted farm owner, Adina, to notice his love and admiration. When a quack doctor, Dulcamara, comes to town selling a potion for every ailment, Nemorino asks for a remedy for Adina’s indifference. The charlatan takes what little Nemorino has in return for his “Elixir of Love”—in reality, a cheap bottle of wine. Nemorino, drunk on hope and an excess of vino, stumbles around content, unconcerned, and convinced Adina will fall for him within a few days. Suddenly neglected, Adina finds herself unexpectedly troubled, prompting her to vie to get Nemorino’s attention back by entertaining the advances of a handsome but noxious soldier, Belcore. So ensures chaos!
