Join us for NMYO's Afternoon of Winter Concerts! The 2:00pm Concert features performances by NMYO's Prelude String Ensemble, Overture String Ensemble, and Intermezzo Orchestra. The 4:00pm Concert features performances by NMYO's advanced ensemble: Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Select Flute Choir. From classical and modern composers, to a variety of seasonal favorites including selections from The Nutcracker Suite, the concerts feature NMYO's 152 musicians and our distinguished conducting staff. Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestra Symphonic Summer Sessions

Join the Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras (NMYO) for its fourth annual summer music program the week of July 29 – August 2, 2024 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 124 River Rd, in Topsfield, MA. &nbsp; NMYO’s Symphonic Summer Sessions includes a combination of small and large ensembles, jazz, pops, fiddling, traditional &amp; concert band, symphonic works, and lots more! Youth musicians, with at least two years of instrument study with a private teacher and the ability to read music, can register. No auditions are required! Held this year at Trinity Episcopal Church in Topsfield, musicians will play music both inside and under canopies on the wooded grounds. &nbsp; ·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Winds, brass and percussion musicians meet from 9:00-11:30am. They play in small groups as well as with a larger Wind Ensemble. ·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;String musicians who are at the end of Suzuki Book 1 or equivalent through Book 3 meet as a small string ensemble from 12:30-2:30pm with fiddling workshops included. ·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Advanced string players, at the Suzuki Book 4 level or higher, meet from 2:00-5:00pm. These musicians play in a small chamber music group and a larger string ensemble, with time for fiddling as well. &nbsp; “NMYO welcomes its current members and also any student musician in the area looking for an opportunity to play music with others this summer,” said Gerry Dolan, NMYO’s Music Director. Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras Auditions for 2024-2025 Season

The Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras (NMYO) is looking for young musicians to join its ensembles in the 2024-2025 Concert Season. Are you in search of a great place to play your instrument, perform in concert, and socialize with other young musicians who enjoy playing music as much as you? Then NMYO is the place for you! Auditions for both new and returning NMYO musicians take place on Saturday, June 8 between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM at Masconomet Middle/High School, 20 Endicott Road, Boxford, MA. But you should start preparing your audition now! String musicians, with at least one year of lessons, and woodwind, brass, and percussion students, who have played for at least two years and are taking private lessons, are invited to audition. The audition is used to determine proficiency on the student’s instrument and to assign ensemble placement. NMYO offers six ensembles including two beginning string ensembles; two full orchestras; a Wind Ensemble for intermediate and advanced winds, brass, and percussion; and a Flute Choir. The Symphony Orchestra program also includes a small ensemble chamber music component to challenge the advanced players. NMYO ensembles perform two major concerts and several small concerts annually. Weekly rehearsals are held in Topsfield/Boxford conveniently located near Route 1 and just off Interstate 95. The concerts will include a mix of classical and contemporary music including works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Grainger, Mackey, Dvořák, Nishimura, and more. The concerts are free and no tickets or reservations are required. The concerts will also be live-streamed on NMYO’s YouTube channel @NMYOrch! Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras (NMYO) present a chamber music concert on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at 3:00 pm in the Shalin Liu Performance Center, 37 Main St., Rockport, MA 01966. “Our Chamber Music Concert features all of NMYO’s Symphony Orchestra and Select Flute Choir musicians,” says Gerry Dolan, NMYO’s Music Director. “This year we also feature a saxophone quartet, piano quintet, and a piece for harp and woodwinds.” The concert is the culmination of an eight-week rehearsal period during which each of the small string, woodwind, flute, brass, saxophone, and percussion ensembles rehearse with visiting professional musicians. These thirteen small ensembles will perform music by both classical and modern composers including Ed Argenziano, Gustav Holst, Dmitri Shostakovich, and William Grant Still. Join us in person for this free-to-the public performance at the beautiful Shalin Liu Performance Center.
