Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Celebrates Pride Month with Return of Proud Bikes to Bluebikes System

WHAT:              In celebration of Pride Month, <a href="https://aboutus.bluecrossma.com/">Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts</a> (Blue Cross), the title sponsor of Bluebikes, is again launching 100 rainbow-wrapped “Proud Bikes” into Greater Boston’s bike share system this June. As part of this month-long initiative to support LGBTQIA+ health care access across Greater Boston, Blue Cross will donate $1 to <a href="https://fenwayhealth.org/">Fenway Health</a> for every ride taken on a “Proud Bike” (either classic or ebike). Once that threshold is met, Lyft, the operator of Bluebikes, will match the donation with an additional $1 per “Proud Bike” ride, contributing up to an additional $10,000. Blue Cross has been Bluebikes’ title sponsor since the 2018 inception of the publicly owned bike share program, which is owned by the 13 participating municipalities and operated by Lyft. WHEN:             June 1 - June 30, 2025                          WHERE:            “Proud Bikes” will be available across the system’s 13 municipalities: Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Newton, Revere, Salem, Somerville, and Watertown. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Celebrates National Bike Month with Free $50 Bluebikes Credits. &nbsp; To celebrate National Bike Month and National Mental Health Awareness Month,&nbsp;<a href="https://aboutus.bluecrossma.com/">Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts</a>&nbsp;(“Blue Cross”), title sponsor of&nbsp;<a href="https://bluebikes.com/">Bluebikes</a>, will provide a free $50 Bluebikes credit to encourage more people to experience the physical and mental health benefits of biking.&nbsp; Blue Cross is the title sponsor of Bluebikes, which is municipally owned by the by thirteen cities and towns in eastern Massachusetts, jointly managed by the Cities of Boston, Cambridge, Everett, and Somerville and the Town of Brookline, and operated under contract by Lyft. The credit applies to both pedal and ebike trips across Bluebikes’ 500 stations in 13 municipalities, including Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Newton, Revere, Salem, Somerville, and Watertown.&nbsp; HOW:&nbsp;Riders can redeem the free $50 Bluebikes credit by entering code BLUECROSSMABIKE in the “Rewards” sections of the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluebikes.com/how-it-works/get-the-app">Bluebikes App</a>. FREE Bluebikes Rides to the Polls on Election Day

WHAT: To reduce transportation barriers as residents head to the polls, <a href="https://aboutus.bluecrossma.com/">Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts</a> (“Blue Cross”) is sponsoring free <a href="https://www.bluebikes.com/">Bluebikes</a> Day Passes on Tuesday, November 5. Blue Cross, the state’s largest health plan, is committed to increasing access to voting locations to ensure that all residents have the opportunity to exercise their civic duty.  Blue Cross is the title sponsor of Bluebikes, which is municipally owned by thirteen cities and towns in eastern Massachusetts, jointly managed by the Cities of Boston, Cambridge, Everett, and Somerville and the Town of Brookline, and operated under contract by Lyft. Passes are available while supplies last. WHEN:  Tuesday, November 5, 2024 (Election Day) – all day                          WHERE:  Free Election Day Passes are available from any of the Bluebikes stations across the system’s 13 municipalities: Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Newton, Revere, Salem, Somerville and Watertown. Residents interested in riding Bluebikes to the polls can visit <a href="https://account.bluebikes.com/map">https://account.bluebikes.com/map</a> to find the closest station. HOW:  Riders can download and open the <a href="https://www.bluebikes.com/how-it-works/get-the-app">Bluebikes App</a> on a mobile device and enter the code BCBSMAVOTE during checkout.
