Flamenco at Starlight has become an annual live flamenco show produced by Laura Sánchez Flamenco inviting flamenco dancers, students, musicians and guest artists to perform in he heart of central square. Flamenco at Starlight is an opportunity for the community to connect and share the joy of dance and bring to Cambridge the tradition of flamenco. This year, Laura Sanchez Flamenco Co is celebrating their 10th Anniversary! Come and celebrate with us. Join us! Tickets are now available! Welcome to Holland!?

Join us for Welcome to Holland!?, a transformative experience blending flamenco with theatrical dance, poetry, humor, spoken word, film, and physical installation. This multidisciplinary work aims to illuminate the often overlooked role of caregivers. Flamenco dancer, educator and choreographer Laura Sánchez reimagines Emily Kingsley’s poem, originally about parenting a child with a disability, to capture the essence of being a mother — a caregiver — waking up to a world transformed by trauma. The unique performance challenges societal narratives about motherhood, preconceived notions of disability, deconstruct internalized ableism, and celebrates the inherent strength of caregivers, creating a space for dialogue and reflection. Financial barriers should never prevent attendance. As a Spanish speaking immigrant mother of two, one of them with multiple disabilities, Laura explores her own personal struggles to create interdisciplinary pieces combining flamenco with spoken word, film, poetry and installation to uplift the voices of Latinx, Hispanic, immigrant woman, caregivers and individuals with disabilities, that often go unheard. Laura received professional training from the Dance Conservatory of Madrid and holds a Professional Certificate in Expressive Arts Therapies from Lesley University where she developed an emerging therapeutic dance practice, Expressive Flamenco©. She presents this work internationally and serves annually as Guest Professor for Lesley University. In 2024 she will bring her Expressive Flamenco work to several organization throughout New England including Harvard University. This series of work has been supported by the Boston Center for the Arts, the Iliad Fund, The Boston Foundation, the New England Foundation for the Arts, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the LAB art Grant, the Mass Cultural Council Choreography Award, the Next Steps to Dance Grant, the Dance Complex, and local Cultural Council Grants from Cambridge, Everett, Chelsea, Revere and Somerville.

A celebration of the journey from the traditional Flamenco in Jerez, Spain, to the thrilling fusion with Mexican and the influences of various artistic expressions from Latin America and the Caribbean.  This annual Live Flamenco Show at Starlight with Laura Sánchez Flamenco Co. has become an annual tradition inviting flamenco dancers, students, musicians and guest artists to perform in he heart of central square.
