Other Brother Darryl, ‘Hey Yeah Hey’ Album Release Party Performing “good music for good people” requires a good room to bring it all together, and sometimes the easiest thing to do is look close to home. Americana collective Other Brother Darryl return to the familiar haunt of The Burren in Somerville on Friday, July 10 to celebrate the release of sophomore album Hey Yeah Hey, where they’ll be joined by indie alt-country upstarts Hey I’m Outside. It’s the follow-up to last year’s acclaimed debut Roll Shine Roll, which surfaced not long after Other Brother Darryl were named the 2024 Boston Music Awards’ Country Artist of the Year (and followed it up with two BMAs nominations last year in the Americana and Music Video categories). This new record furthers the octet’s rich, harmony-driven vocals with its signature cosmic canyon rock, and the album’s rollout of monthly singles have earned praise everywhere from WBUR, Boston’s NPR, to Americana UK and The Alternate Root Magazine. So far this year, the band has previewed these engaging new songs with a series of live shows around the region’s club and venue scene, as well as the festival circuit, appearing at The Town and The City in Lowell and The New England Americana Festival at Medfield’s Bellforge Arts Center. 6 p.m., all-ages, $22 in advance and $27 at the door

Cape Crush’s debut album “Place Memory” possesses a sonic catharsis that makes it perhaps the most quintessential album of 2026, and these days there is no greater form of emotional release than hanging out in a room full of friends. On Friday, July 10, the North Shore power-emo foursome invites all to celebrate “Place Memory” with the official album release party at Deep Cuts in Medford, a spirited bill of friendship and community featuring One Fall, Hell Beach, and Good June. The show also kicks off the band’s nine-date tour with Mallcops, bringing their sound to the masses as far west as Cleveland and as far south as Richmond, Virginia. Described as “a strong and confident debut of emo-tinged power-pop and pop-punk songwriting” (Rosy Overdrive) full of “wonderfully melodic guitar-pop” (I Don’t Hear A Single), “Place Memory” earned widespread praise for its “catchy hooks, relatable lyrics, and high-energy performances” (IDIOTEQ) and “the big sound and memorable hooks that have become the band’s trademark, [showcasing an] explosion of passion, thought, and energy” (WBUR, Boston’s NPR). This specially-curated night reimagines music performance and explores the darker, more theatrical strains of the underground, with Valerie Forgione’s elegantly dramatic noir-pop project leading an inspired bill featuring the expansive soul shoegaze of The Veldt; the ethereal noise-gaze of Boston Calling alums Vivid Bloom; and the psychedelic dark dream-pop of scene newcomers Spirit Hotel. It’s a mid-year benchmark for the evolution of our scene, and a sonic cleanse to prepare for all that lies ahead.

Girl with a Hawk's 'Regenesis' album release party

Girl with a Hawk raise a glass to the rock and roll lifers with debut album 'Regenesis', and the Boston band’ celebrates with the official release party on Saturday, June 20 at The Midway Cafe in Jamaica Plain. Joining in on the fun are a pair of fellow Rum Bar Records bands in Stop calling Me Frank and Tad Overbaugh and the Late Arrivals. 'Regenesis' is a gold-standard rock and roll collection that harnesses the band’s classic rock, power-pop, and Americana sound. It bridges a gap between that cool ’70s rock vibe and the chaos and concern of the modern day, all filtered through the collaborative songwriting lens of scene stalwart Linda Viens. 'Regenesis' also captures the Girl with a Hawk ethos, honoring the ones doing it for the love of music, for the love of those around them, and for the love that took hold many years ago and simply never let go. Sandy Netburn live at Wex Rex Gallery's soft launch party

Sandy Netburn was born to perform. And the teenage singer, songwriter, guitarist, ventriloquist, and producer from Long Island is showcasing why as she christens a new arts venue in Massachusetts this week. On Thursday, June 4, Netburn becomes the first artist to perform live at Wex Rex Gallery, a new artist-driven performance space at Gary Sohmers’ emporium of popular cultural artifacts retail store located at 312 Main St. in Hudson. Netburn headlines the soft launch opening, performing live as part of the newly-launched Storefront Storytellers series. The bill also features Jon Stetson, America’s master mentalist, and Sohmers as host and MC. Doors are at 6 p.m., and Sandy performs at 7 p.m. There is no cover to attend.&nbsp; The Wex Rex Gallery is part of a 2,000-square-foot expansion to the Wex Rex retail store, which will feature a gallery for artifacts, art, and collectibles surrounding a space for in-store performances, auctions, readings, comedy, magic and other special events. The space includes 75 comfortable seats and standing room for another 25, and will be used for various types of promotional and concert experiences. And no one better than Netburn to break in that stage, especially after just releasing her debut album Issues on vinyl.

Dirt Road Souls saddle up and invite everyone to come raise a whiskey glass to a long-lost tale of restlessness, rebellion, love, and loss. The Massachusetts dive bar Americana trio celebrate the release of roots rock opera ‘(The Life and Times of) Johnny Moonshine’ with an inspired matinee gathering on Saturday, April 18 at The Midway in Jamaica Plain, honoring the album’s titular anti-hero with a release party ‘celebration of life’ alongside Three At Home, Elisa Smith, and Erin Bonnie. Join us as we honor Johnny Moonshine, a backroad dreamer, Midwestern moonshine runner, hopeless romantic, and overall tragic figure; the type of reckless rebel we all once knew, and the type of kid we, at one point, at least, always wanted to be. Music escapism is needed now more than ever, and three transportive bands come together in Somerville for an evening of alluring sounds across a darker spectrum as The Chameleons bring their Arctic Moon tour, in support of a new album of the same name, to Crystal Ballroom on Tuesday, April 14. The influential post-punk band is joined by tour mates and shoegaze-soul veterans The Veldt, as well as Boston noir-pop luminaries Lovina Falls, who last year released acclaimed EP Would That It Were, of which The Big Takeover writes: “If only all pop music was this elegant, this eloquent, this infectious, this damn unique. …This is music as art, art as music.” That vibe will be on vibrant display all evening.

Kier Byrnes &amp; The Kettle Burners x March 28 at The Burren Fresh off scoring Americana Artist of the Year at the 2025 Boston Music Awards, Kier Byrnes &amp; The Kettle Burners bring their high-octane cocktail of chicken-pickin’ electric guitar and face-melting accordion to The Burren in Somerville on Saturday, March 28. The tireless sextet share the stage with panoramic indie-folk songwriter and storyteller Billy Dodge Moody, who released the brilliant “Ephemera” EP last year, selected by WBUR, Boston’s NPR, as one of the most anticipated New England records that summer, and Boston Americana songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Luke Curran. The show arrives just as The Kettle Burners unleash “Moonshine &amp; Other Spirits” (out March 27), a lively new EP led by feisty single “My Baby’s Happy,” featuring award-winning country artist Elisa Smith.

The band’s first live show of 2026 arrives fresh off two nominations in the Boston Music Awards (for Americana Artist of the Year, Video of the Year) and the release of this month’s sterling single “Peaceful Alibi.” More music on the way, including new single “Take It With You” dropping next month and sophomore album “Hey Yeah Hey” surfacing in June, just after the band appears at The Town and the City Festival and the New England Americana Fest. Offering an evening of community warmth and catharsis through music, Adam Sherman Band celebrates the release of new album “Sorrows and Smiles” at The Burren in Somerville on Thursday, February 5, joined by fellow Boston luminaries The Daylilies. Nominated for Performer of the Year at the 2025 New England Music Awards and a 6-time nominee in the Boston Music Awards, Sherman is a veteran of the our music scene (Private Lightning, The Souls, Nervous Eaters). Continuing his solo career, “Sorrows and Smiles” is an expansive and emotive jolt of lush Americana folk-rock, and acts as a personal songwriting showcase as Sherman presents a collection of songs about triumph over heartbreak.
