The Kilroy Square Farmers Market is back for another exciting season! Festivities begin at noon on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Kilroy Square, for a special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with Mayor Koch, complete with a cake from Montilio’s Baking Company, as we kick off another incredible season. The Kilroy Square Farmers Market will be open every Friday from Noon to 4:00 PM until October 31st, offering a vibrant mix of fresh produce, local goods, and artisan crafts. Located in the heart of Quincy Center at Kilroy Square, this weekly event connects local farmers, artisans, and small businesses from across the region. Shoppers can browse a diverse selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, specialty foods, handmade items, and more, all while supporting local businesses and soaking in Quincy’s lively community atmosphere. The City of Quincy invites the public to a ceremony celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States Navy. The program will feature:<ul><li>Remarks by LCDR Alicia Ping, U.S. Navy (Ret.), Partnership and Civic Engagement Liaison for the National Park Service, on the history of the U.S. Navy</li><li>Remarks by Robert Damon, City of Quincy Historic Heritage Director, on Quincy's local naval history</li><li>A live performance by Navy Band Northeast’s Jack Tar Brass Band</li></ul>Cake and refreshments will be served following the ceremony. Over 30 historic tours, activities and programs at 12 historic sites and a US Navy heavy cruiser! All for free! Come Discover Quincy and help celebrate our 400 Anniversary! Historic sites open for extended times all on one day. Sites open from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM Option 1 Stroll the sites within the downtown area and travel by foot. Parking lots available. Option 2 Visit a Heritage Hub for transportation to area locations. Heritage Hub 1: Adams Academy Ride to Quincy Houses or to Quincy Quarry and Granite Workers Museum. Heritage Hub 2: National Park Visitors Center Ride to Adams Birthplaces and Peace Field. Heritage Hub 3: Coddington Building Ride to USS Salem and to special programs. Sal’s Pizza Hosts Pizza Eating Contest in Chelmsford, MA

On Wednesday, September 24, Sal’s Pizza, a family-owned and operated business for 35 years, will hold a Pizza Eating Contest at its Chelmsford location (296 Chelmsford St). Participants will race to see who can devour Sal’s infamous three-pound, 19-inch extra-large pizza the fastest. The contest is sponsored by Pepsi. The top three winners will take home exciting prizes:&nbsp;<ul><li>First Place: $1,000</li><li>Second Place: $50 Sal’s Pizza Gift Card</li><li>Third Place: $25 Sal’s Pizza Gift Card</li></ul>There is a $15 entry fee per participant, while spectators can attend for free. Please note: winners of the Boston or Derry, New Hampshire contests are not eligible to compete in this event.&nbsp; In addition, there will be a free onsite raffle for two pairs of tickets to any regular season Boston Red Sox game. Pepsi representatives will also be on hand offering samples of new products. The New England Center and Home for Veterans (NECHV) will host the 2025 Greater Boston Stand Down, a one-day event that brings together service providers and local Veterans and enables Veterans to receive immediate comprehensive and coordinated services in one place. This remarkable community event will include more than 100 service providers, employers and community organizations to provide essential supportive services to Veterans in the Greater Boston area (must bring proof of military service), including housing assistance, medical care, wellness programs, legal support, employment assistance, and prevention services.
