Unreliable Witness art show opening 

Unreliable Witness began with a practical question: how do you make two-dimensional characters come alive? Todhunter creates paintings of Little Ghost and her friends on paper and canvas, but wanted to see them move and tell their own stories. That impulse led to a hacked Canon scanner—now a DIY printmaking machine—where visitors generate one-page Little Ghost adventures of their own. As the project evolved, so did its central idea: we animate our past the same way we animate characters—through retelling. Our memories shift each time we revisit them; two people can share an experience yet recall entirely different truths. Memory doesn't work like a recording device; it constantly rewrites our past through the lens of present experience. This concept shapes the exhibition’s network of interactive works built from repurposed, memory-laden technologies. Visitors become participants in the fragile, glitchy processes by which memories are made, distorted, and preserved: the Little Ghost Story Machine; Welcome to the Dollhouse, where rebuilt dollhouses are photographed with a camera that prints on fading thermal paper; Bitter Charms, a toy vending machine dispensing ceramic charms paired with paper fortunes; the Video Phone Selfie Station, a retro-futuristic moon-base portal; The Bone Machine, a modified calculator probing who gets to quantify human value; and the Argus Previewers, vintage slide viewers reimagined as handheld micro-galleries. The exhibition features collaborations with ceramicist Earl Howard and filmmaker Peter West. Howard translates the show's ephemeral imagery into durable form: a series of screenprinted ceramics including mugs, vases, and functional pieces that emerged from back-and-forth collaboration between the artists. In Channel 4 / Fallen Man, Todhunter and filmmaker Peter West present West's film on vintage analog television through an actual broadcast signal, creating a rare temporal glitch where viewers watch a broadcast from the past in the present, transmitted by obsolete technology. Together, these works suggest that memory’s unreliability is not a flaw but a feature. Our shifting recollections—personal, cultural, communal—are the raw material from which we build identity and meaning.

West Medford Open Studios

West Medford Open Studios (WMOS) is thrilled to announce its 25th anniversary celebration of local arts. The annual free showcase will be held on June 22 from 12-5 p.m. at Dugger Park along the Mystic River in West Medford, MA, with additional exhibits inside the West Medford Community Center. Featuring over 70 artists and a diverse array of art mediums, attendees can immerse themselves in the creative atmosphere while exploring the wide variety of artists' works. The event will also include live music performances throughout the day and live readings by local writers. A new addition to this year’s event is the WMOS doodle tent, an interactive space equipped with mini canvases, paper, and markers to encourage visitors to unleash their creativity. Local favorites Medford Brewing Company, Goldilox Bagels, and Frozen Hoagies will be offering food and beverages for attendees to enjoy. West Medford Open Studios remains committed to providing a vibrant platform for both emerging and seasoned artists to showcase and sell their creations, fostering a festive atmosphere and celebrating the local art community. The event is made possible thanks to the support of notable organizations such as the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Medford Arts Council, and Friends of WMOS, highlighting the importance of community partnerships in sustaining and promoting the arts. Dugger Park 

On June 24, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., West Medford Open Studios will host its annual free celebration of arts at Dugger Park along side the Mystic River in West Medford as well as in the West Medford Community Center. This year, the event features over 70 visual artists, lively music performances, and original readings by local writers. In addition, there will be a beer tent by by Medford Brewing Company, and guests can indulge in delicious bites from food trucks and a Goldilox bagel pop-up. .  West Medford Open Studios is a community event that highlights local artists and provides a platform for showcasing their talents. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and interact with the artists, view their work, and even purchase original artwork. The festival offers a unique opportunity for visitors to explore the vibrant and diverse art scene in the community. The event will also feature a range of live music performances. Attendees can look forward to an eclectic mix of genres, including Lekha &amp; Friends (R&amp;B Indie soul), <a href="http://occasionalbrass.com">occasionalbrass.com</a> (pop &amp; jazz), <a href="http://juventasmusic.org">juventasmusic.org</a> (contemporary chamber music), and @dutchisland (Indie rock). In addition to the visual art and music, five local writers will also be giving readings throughout the day. These readings will showcase the literary talent of the community including Medford’s own Poet Laureate Terry E. Carter. “We’re thrilled to be hosting West Medford Open Studios at Dugger Park again this year,” said event organizer Tanya Howard. “This is a great opportunity to showcase the amazing talent we have in our community and promises to be a fantastic day out for art lovers, music enthusiasts, and foodies alike.   Admission to WMOS is free and open to the public. Dugger Park is located at the intersection of Harvard Ave. and Mystic River Road in West Medford.
