Artistry in Action: String Masters Series—Curtis Stewart, Violin Event Dates

Hailed for his ability to translate stories of American self-determination to the concert stage, six-time Grammy-nominated violinist and composer Curtis Stewart presents a recital of celebrated and original works as part of the String Masters Series. String Masters Series is artistically directed by Andrew Mark and part of Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s Artistry in Action Series.

When a humble everyman sparks a revolution against the system, chaos and hilarity ensue as the boundaries between hero and villain blur. Following its acclaimed off-Broadway premiere and celebrated Broadway run, this uproarious musical has become a modern classic, delighting audiences with its bold wit, unforgettable score, and subversive storytelling that challenges the conventions of the genre. With music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis and book by Greg Kotis, this production is directed by De’Lon Grant and music directed by Bethany Aiken with choreography by Ramone Owens. This performance has been selected as part of Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s 2025–2026 Center Stage collection.

Time to Act

Boston Conservatory at Berklee is proud to present the collegiate premiere of the contemporary opera&nbsp;Time to Act, a powerful new work by faculty composer Laura Kaminsky (As One) and director/librettist Crystal Manich. Set in a high school as students prepare for a staging of&nbsp;Antigone, this gripping contemporary opera explores how young people confront grief, violence, and the urgent need for change in the face of school shootings.&nbsp; Fresh from its world premiere,&nbsp;Time to Act&nbsp;comes to the Conservatory’s mainstage as part of a groundbreaking national consortium with Opera Montana, Opera Santa Barbara, and Pittsburgh Opera. With raw emotion and musical immediacy, this must-see premiere speaks directly to the world we live in—and the future we must shape. Andrew Bisantz conducts and David Gately directs Boston Conservatory’s Center Stage production. Following its Boston run,&nbsp;Time to Act&nbsp;will travel to National Sawdust in Brooklyn, New York (April 22–23, 2026) for a semi-staged public performance and professional live recording, to be released nationally by the acclaimed label Bright Shiny Things. This performance has been selected as part of Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s 2025–2026 Center Stage collection.

Cirque du Soleil Ensemble

Berklee College of Music’s Cirque du Soleil Ensemble, directed by Professor Rich Greenblatt, and Boston Conservatory’s Dance Division present music from various Cirque du Soleil productions, with choreography by Assistant Professor Jun Kuribayashi and Instructor Leah Abbott. This performance is the third Cirque collaboration between the College and the Conservatory.

The Composition and Contemporary Music program presents Lamnth (Lilit Hartunian, violin, and Nicholas Tolle, cimbalom) performing a program of works by Iranian-born composer and Boston Conservatory at Berklee faculty member Bahar Royaee. Lamnth is a violin and cimbalom duo founded in 2023 by Hartunian and Tolle, dedicated to building a new repertoire for their unique pairing. Their thoughtful and hands-on approach to collaborating has yielded new works by composers, including Maya Bennardo, Darcy Copeland, Marti Epstein, Ash Graham, Sid Richardson, Golnaz Shariatzadeh, and Niloufar Shiri. Hartunian and Tolle, long established members of the Boston new music community, are frequent performers with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, A Far Cry, Emmanuel Music, and Sound Icon, among other groups. They also frequently perform together with the Ludovico Ensemble, founded by Tolle.
