3-Week Stained Glass Session

Online registration is required to attend this event. Please register your spot using the link. **Sessions will meet for three consecutive weeks at the same time/day.** What You’ll Learn: * Session 1: Learn essential glass cutting techniques and begin cutting your chosen pattern. * Session 2: Complete any remaining glass cutting and move on to the copper foiling process. If you don’t finish foiling in class, you’ll take your pieces home to complete before the final session. * Session 3: Master soldering techniques to assemble and complete your stained glass piece. Project Choices: Students will choose from a pre-approved selection of patterns and color palettes. Once you’ve completed the beginner series, you can continue refining your skills. Returning students enjoy more flexibility in selecting their own projects and materials as they build on their knowledge. This course is $300 - for all three classes with all materials included. For those who’d like a polished final touch, a finishing service—including framing and polishing—is available for an additional $25 fee. Returning Students: $200 (materials purchased separately.) 6-Week Mosaic Session 

The ancient art of Mosaics is traced back over 4,000 years to Mesopotamia! Mosaics is the art of arranging small colored pieces of hard material, such as stone, tile, or glass. These materials are proven to withstand time. Venture to historic cities like Rome and Athens and you can still walk across the same mosaic flooring from thousands of years ago! ​ The Mosaic Classes at The Glass Bar are committed to keeping the art of Mosiacs alive! Our trusted instructor, Wendy Birchmire, has been working in mosaics for over 10 years, and is ready to share her technique! During this 6-week session we're going to explore the ancient technique of Mosaic art. You will create beautiful mosaic masterpieces using a variety of techniques and materials. We're going to start off easy using only mosaic tile nippers to shape precut pieces of glass. Your first 'practice project' will use these techniques to a picture frame. In the following weeks you will learn how to grout the pieces and more advanced techniques of cutting. You will be able to use traditional mosaic pieces such as square tiles, penny rounds and beads, as well as stained glass. After a bit of practice, you will design and create a 12” X 12” mirror. Glass fusing is the bonding of separate pieces of glass by high heat, administered in a kiln. It’s easy to learn the basics of glass fusing, it’s fun, and the possibilities are endless. There is a vast range of techniques, and we are always experimenting! Join us for special glass fusing classes! These classes are 1.5 hours long during which, students will learn the basics of glass fusing to create a sun-catcher of their design. Learned techniques include cutting straight lines, curved lines, and circles. Students will brainstorm ideas to create a piece they will be proud of! FUSED GLASS CORAL BOWL specialty class These are so fun, we can't wait to share this technique with you! In this class, we will discuss basic bowl draping techniques and kiln working. We will start the class with detailed glass-cutting and safety instructions. Then you will move on to assembling your coral bowl using strips of glass that you will cut of a color of your choice. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the assembly of your pieces, ensuring an amazing outcome! Bowl Size approximately 12 inch diameter (flat) Perfect for beginners.  Glass Fusing Date Night

Online registration is required to attend this event. Register your spots <a href="https://fareharbor.com/embeds/book/theglassbarboston/items/437575/?full-items=yes&amp;flow=685615">here</a>. Skip the boring dinner date, and cozy up by the kiln at the The Glass Bar. Bring your special someone for an evening that is sure to impress. In this class you will learn intermediate glass fusing knowledge, such as working with cold glass sheets, remnants, frits to create a fused glass sushi set (one large plate, and one small plate for sauce). Couples will work together, challenging each other to design a piece that represents both identities while coming together to make a beautiful piece of art. You will also gain an in depth look at kiln working. Learned techniques include cutting straight lines, curved lines, and circles. Note: One ticket ($150) admits one couple to attend class. Couples will be create one sushi plate set, sharing the project. Pieces will be ready for pick up after firing (~2 weeks). Great for beginners. Materials included. Maximum 16 students, Minimum 4.
