Lunar New Year Weekend 2025 at the Loring Greenough House - Celebrating the Year of the Snake! 🐍 Learn from a local Chinese chef how to make two types of dumplings from northern China- from mixing the dough, to rolling it out, constructing the filling, putting it altogether, cooking and eating it! Loring Greenough House's Appraisal Day is back! On Sunday November 3rd, between 1pm and 4pm, bring over those antique treasures and art and have them appraised by professional appraiser Edward Stanley. Tickets are not required, you can pay for your appraisal in peron. But RSVP here to receive any updates and a reminder for this event. Donation is $10 per item or $25 for 3 items. Bring up to 3 items - or just come and watch our very own Roadshow with refreshments! There are sure to be some exciting discoveries! Proceeds to benefit the Preservation Fund of the House. About our Appraiser: Edward Stanley is an accredited professional appraiser with 20 years of experience assisting clients in the valuation of their collections, estates, charitable donations and sale planning. A generalist appraiser he can evaluate a wide variety of fine art, antiques, decorative art and modern design items. (Please note: Jewelry, stamps and coins cannot be evaluated.)

The once famous actresses are ageing alone together in their decaying, dimly lit Los Angeles mansion, with the sadistic and delusional former child star ‘Baby Jane’ playing psychological games on her now paraplegic sister. In Distemper She Died: The Real Victims of Boston’s 17th Cent.ury Witch Trials

Massachusetts Bay began executing people for witchcraft in Boston almost fifty years before the Salem Witch Trials, including in Dorchester, Cambridge and Charlestown. These executions are much lesser-known, totaling fewer than half the number that took place in Salem in one year alone, but the stories behind them deserve to be told. Join Alyssa Conary for an introduction to the women convicted and executed for witchcraft in seventeenth-century Boston. Learn their names and their stories, and how one case may have been a precursor to the tragic events of 1692. Alyssa G. A. Conary, MA, is a freelance historian and the Membership Director of <a href="https://creativecollectivema.com/">Creative Collective</a> in Salem, Massachusetts. She completed a master’s degree in history at Salem State University in 2020 after working in interpretation, administration, and development in Salem’s heritage industry for several years. Her specific areas of historical interest include witchcraft and magic, the early modern Atlantic World, and seventeenth-century architecture. Alyssa lives in southern New Hampshire with her husband Ryan, their children William and Isabelle, and their cats Jonah and Henry.
