Circle of Security parent workshop

At times all parents feel lost or without a clue about what our child might&nbsp;need from us. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense&nbsp;of what your child was really asking from you. The Circle of Security Parenting™ program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.&nbsp; Learning Objectives of the Program: ● Understand your child’s emotional world by learning to read the emotional needs ● Support your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions ● Enhance the development of your child’s self esteem ● Honor your innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure Presented by Latifah Hasan MSW, Registered Licensed Facilitator Participants should plan to attend every session. Dates: July 8, July 15, July 22, August 5, August 12, August 19, August 26, and THURSDAY August 29. Childcare will be on site. Registration is required. Space is limited.

Babysitting & CPR Certification Class

School's almost out which means it's time to get a job! Babysitting is a great first job, and this class will get you CPR/First Aid certification. This is a 3-hour training in which students will learn how to interact with kids of all ages and how to keep them safe with First Aid and CPR. The class is led by Maryellen McNally. For ages 12+. Mental Health Month Family Tales (Storytime)

Little ones are invited every other Saturday morning to a Family Story Time, a program where children can enjoy stories, songs, fingerplays, and playtime or&nbsp;a craft with their parents, grandparents, or other special caregivers in their life. This program is intended for children up to age five and their caregivers, though older siblings are welcome. All children must be accompanied by an adult.&nbsp;Registration is recommended but not required. Family Tales on Saturday, May 11, and Friday, May 17, will feature the work of local Haitian authors Charline Melon and Nahomie Vilnaigre. Family Tales on Saturday, May 25, and Friday, May 31, will feature a mental health month theme.

This is a parent/caregiver-child playgroup for babies under 12 months old. Meet other new parents and interact with other babies.&nbsp;We will also have a lactation consultant to answer your questions about breastfeeding, pumping, and weaning! Getting out of the house can be hard, especially with young children,&nbsp;so please drop in whenever you can.&nbsp; Accessibility Notice:&nbsp;We strive to make our events accessible. Wiggles and Wonders

Children ages 1-4 with a caregiver&nbsp;are invited to a low-key playgroup on Monday mornings! Come make new friends and explore scarves, balls, a simple craft/coloring, and the occasional Play-Doh. We encourage our future readers to explore early literacy concepts like sing, read, talk, write, and play. We also work to develop their fine and gross motor skills.

Star Party Astronomy Viewing

Meet at the Boston Nature Center's "Margaret's Meadow" to do some stargazing together with the Mattapan Branch of the Boston Public Library and the Amateur Telescope Makers of Boston. Register on our online calendar to be notified if the date changes due to weather. Dress for the weather. Program may be postponed to November 21 due to cloudy conditions or other weather. Follow the road all the way back to the far parking lot and we will direct you from there to the meadow!
