Harvest Fair Festival

For 49 years Newton has celebrated the change of seasons and gathered as a community at the Harvest Fair in Newton Centre. The festival is held on Sunday October 20 starting at 11am, shop unique hand- crafted goods and learn about local businesses. Stop by Green Newton’s GreenEXPO and discover ways to create an environment in better balance with the natural world. There will be live entertainment on 2 stages featuring many of your favorite local performers and a diverse group of international food trucks. Take home your own personally decorated pumpkin courtesy of Wegmans Chestnut Hill. And of course, don’t miss the squeals of delight from the children enjoying the ever-popular caterpillar rollercoaster at the Cushing Carnival!  For more information contact Newton Cultural Development at <a href="mailto:culture@newtonma.gov">culture@newtonma.gov</a>. See you at the fair!

Time for Partners

Located at the War Memorial Auditorium at City Hall, 1000 Commonwealth Avenue, this program runs from 9:30 – 11:15 am on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Choose your day to attend and your child will enjoy the many hands-on art activities, imaginary play, and creative movement so crucial to early development. Follow that with a quick snack, and then clap and dance to wonderful live music performed by a professional musician.

Free Summer Concert

Koliba Afro Pop is an 8 piece Afro Pop band led by Mohammad Kalifa Kamara of W Africa. The band performs original and traditional music based on rhythms and styles a W Africa. The band blends styles of Africa with contemporary American and European sounds and has performed at First Nights in Boston Worcester Providence Westerly and at Peabody Essex Museum Boston Arts Festival and Cambridge River Festival. Audiences always dance to the music of Kalifa and Koliba and leader Mohammad, a drummer dancer and singer is a charismatic performer and former Artistic Director of African Ballet of Gambia and has performed extensively throughout Africa, Europe and the US. Their stage is the open space next to the Newton Centre playground and just down the hill from the Tyler Terrace hut. With free open-air seating in this vast park space, there is plenty of room for families, friends, groups large and small to come together and enjoy diverse musical styles. Bring along a blanket, a chair a picnic dinner, and join us for these summer performances in the park! The park is a short distance from Newton Centre where there is plenty of parking and restaurants for you to choose from. Additional parking is available on Tyler Terrace and at the Mason Rice School parking lot. Check our website for updates on any unexpected changes to the schedule. The Newton Centre Bowl comes alive with music and dancing with the music of The 60's a 1960's tribute band driven by true passion for the music from the decade. A diverse repertoire of Motown, British Invasion, Girl Groups, Surf Rock, Blues-rock, Bubblegum Pop, and Psychedelic Rock will have you singing and dancing to every song. The band injects personality, fun, and life into the music while making sure signature instrumental and vocal parts of the songs are featured. Raised on Bob Dylan, The Band, and Little Feat, the sisters crafted their sound around a honky tonk piano in the living room of their childhood home. With a talented cast of rotating drummers and bass players, The Wolff Sisters are a rag tag group of hardworking individuals that bring a big sound and timeless songs. Their music is honest and genre defying, but still rooted in traditional rock and Americana storytelling. New England Music Award winner for Americana Artist of the Year 2021 and Boston Music Award winner for Americana Artist of the Year.
