JP Holiday Light Show

Come see the only holiday projection show in Boston! The JP Holiday Light Show will run every evening from 5:00 – 9:00pm, from Saturday, December 7 until Saturday, January 4, 2025. Shows will occur on the hour and half hour. Music is available through your mobile device – be sure to scan the QR code at the beginning of the show. Launch Party on Saturday, December 7, starting at 4:30pm We will have treats and hot cocoa, as well as local holiday music, as we wait for the debut of the JP Holiday Light Show!

Books & Bites Fall Fundraiser

Join us for a literary event and signature cocktails! This year, we decided on a literary theme because we didn’t realize that we had so many renowned authors in Jamaica Plain. We are hosting a panel discussion with these JP-based authors who will talk about their work and relationship with Jamaica Plain. The program will be about an hour and 15 minutes, and then we’ll break for meet &amp; greet and book signings. Guests will be able to enjoy special SIGNATURE COCKTAILS as they meet the authors. Right now, we have three confirmed speakers:<ul><li>Prize-winning author and professor <a href="https://johnfulton.net/">John Fulton</a>, author of The Flounder,</li><li>National Bestseller <a href="https://www.theadamwhite.com/">Adam White</a>, author of The Midcoast,</li><li>Mark Twain American Voice winner <a href="https://www.jennifer-haigh.com/">Jennifer Haigh</a>, author of Mercy Street,</li><li>New York Public Best Book 2022 winner <a href="https://www.neemaavashia.com/">Neema Avashia</a>, author of Another Appalachia.</li></ul>Books will also be on sale from our local bookstore, <a href="https://papercutsjp.com/">Papercuts JP</a>, for authors to sign.

Oktoberfest Trolley Tour

Pub &amp; Brew Trolley Tour Get our your Lederhosen and Dirndl dresses and join us for a trolley tour of three neighborhoods and their beer. Board the trolley for a three-hour tour and visit:<ul><li>Jamaica Plain - Oktoberfest at Hive Events at Loring Greenough;</li><li>Hyde Park - Roundhead Brewing;</li><li>and West Roxbury - Corrib Pub.</li></ul>Each stop includes free snacks with your purchase of beverage. Trolley will feature history of brewing in Boston and local sites, with Michael Reiskind of the JP Historical Society. Revel in Oktoberfest with songs and toast with Prost! An interactive workshop to minimize your business' legal risks. This interactive workshop is designed to help business owners understand the preventative steps they can take to avoid legal problems in the future. Participants will learn how to conduct a mini legal self-audit of their business operations to minimize risk, when to call – and when not to call - a lawyer, and practical tips they can use immediately to reduce their legal spend. This workshop is led by Jan Glassman of Daily General Counsel™. Attendees will be put into six groups of 10, for a max of 60 attendees. Each group will visit six (6) different eateries in our district and enjoy a “taste” from each place. As we travel from taste to taste, attendees will enjoy a walking history tour of Jamaica Plain. Show Your Love Projection Show

“Show Your Love” Projection Show – Send a Project-o-Gram! JP Centre/South Main Streets has partnered with J.P. Licks to present the “Show Your Love” projection show on the building of J.P. Licks headquarters in Jamaica Plain. These “project-o-grams” of love can be from anyone to anyone, and will be projected onto the building on February 13 through February 15, 2024. The cost to submit a project-o-gram is $10, and all proceeds will go to Rosie’s Place, a non-profit organization that offers a safe haven for LGBTQIA+ women, including overnight shelter and other services to those in need who self-identify as female. Galentine’s Wine &amp; Chocolate Tour&nbsp;is an evening of wine &amp; chocolate, combined with self-love and lots of shopping. JP Canine Costume Parade

This year is the 19th running of the Annual Jamaica Plain Canine Costume Parade. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, October 28, 2023, and will feature a parade down Centre Street with music from JP Honk and a police escort. The parade culminates in a red carpet walk at Loring Greenough House, with judging and prizes awarded for the best costume.  The Dog Parade is a neighborhood favorite. Dogs and owners in their finest costumes walk along Centre Street, where spectators gather to see the parading pooches. The event is helmed and MC’ed by Brad Brown, owner of Blue Frog Bakery. Costumes are judged by local celebrities, and prizes are awarded to the top three costumes. 100% of all $10 entry fees go to the City of Boston Animal Shelter, in the form of gift cards to our local pet stores. Date and Time: Saturday, October 28, 12:00-2:00pm (rain date: Sunday, October 29) Location: Registration starts at First Baptist Church, 633 Centre St, at 12noon. The parade commences at 1:00pm to Loring Greenough House. The dogs will walk the Red Carpet upon arrival at Loring Greenough House, 12 South Street, Jamaica Plain. For the third year in a row, Sazama Real Estate and TCB – The Cooperative Bank are exclusive sponsors of the Dog Parade! The parade is hosted by JP Centre/South Main Streets and the JP Business &amp; Professional Association.  Pets and humans must register to be eligible for the costume contest. However anyone may march in the parade. The parade will begin at approximately 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church. Winners will be announced at the end of the parade.  JP Centre/South Main Streets is a volunteer-driven, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to bring residents, businesses, and the City of Boston together to guide the growth of Jamaica Plain's Centre and South Streets' business district. In partnership with Boston Main Streets, we provide a direct conduit to the City of Boston, provide technical assistance to help new businesses succeed, and create and promote community events that sustain the Centre/South corridor.

JP Trivia Battle

It's a battle royale, as you challenge Michael Reiskind in JP-based trivia! JP Centre/South Main Streets welcomes teams of 1-4 people to put their heads together and join us for an evening of fun, laughs, and drinks, as we marvel at the amazing amount of knowledge that Michael knows about Jamaica Plain. There will be complimentary appetizers, and beer and wine for sale. There are also prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, UNLESS you beat Michael Reiskind's score, in which case there is a $500 cash prize for the top score!
