Play Playe: Game Night for Adults returns for a special Holiday edition on Saturday, December 14 from 7-10 PM at <a href="https://roundheadbrewing.com/">Roundhead Brewing</a> in Hyde Park, MA. Play Playe: Game Night is a free game night for adults with All-Star Holiday Classics Karaoke featuring Jody Vibes and Zuri, board games, cards, Minute to Win It, sounds by DJ Troy Frost, and hosted by Cat Morris and Toki Wright. Through fun and games, Play Playe is a night dedicated to connecting our city’s arts, culture, and community. Come out and meet other artists, organizers, and neighbors while grabbing a drink and a bite to eat. Dance Party with Timba Messengers

Celebrate two years of <a href="https://roundheadbrewing.com/">Roundhead Brewing</a> and <a href="https://www.departurearts.org">Departure Arts</a> with live music and D-A-N-C-I-N-G, tunes powered by the <a href="https://www.thetimbamessengers.com/home">Timba Messengers</a>, a Latin Jazz/Salsa Band that will inspire you to shed any troubles and revel in the joy of dance. The Timba Messengers combine the rich musical heritage of Latin America with elements of Jazz and Afro-Caribbean rhythms; the band’s sound is a melting pot of diverse cultural influences. Doors open at 6p, no ticket required for mezzanine (21+ only), taproom or patio (all ages). Food available to order from the Roundhead Pizza Kitchen and from our Contigofest food partner, Naco Taco! Once we reach capacity, entrance will be denied.

This one-time special performance features world-renowned musicians&nbsp;with roots from across the globe&nbsp;who all now call Boston their home. Experience the fusion of sounds from Texas, Canada, and Australia, as we celebrate these now local, talented artists. &nbsp; Boston In Common: A Jazz Concert&nbsp;will showcase saxophonist Walter Smith III, guitarist Matthew Stevens, and bassist Linda May Han Oh. This renowned collective has a history of collaborating in a variety of acclaimed groups, and this trio performance promises to be a unique and unforgettable experience. &nbsp; Doors open:&nbsp;5:30 PM Music performance:&nbsp;6:00 PM (60-75 minutes) Tickets are pay-what-you-can (suggested $15+), all proceeds support your community artists. &nbsp; The concert is family-friendly and will feature seasonal pizzas, craft brews,&nbsp;and&nbsp;ice cream from Roundhead Brewing, Massachusetts's first Latino-owned brewery. &nbsp; Performers: <a href="https://lindamayhanoh.com/" target="_blank">Linda May Han Oh</a>&nbsp;is a GRAMMY award-winning bassist and composer from Malaysia, raised in Perth, Australia. She has won numerous awards, including the 2022 Deutscher Jazz Preis and the Bassist of the Year by the Jazz Journalist's Association. <a href="https://www.waltersmith3.com/" target="_blank">Walter Smith III</a>&nbsp;is a saxophonist and composer from Houston, TX, who is now based in Boston, notably as the Woodwind Chair at the Berklee College of Music. His recent album, "return to casual," released in April 2023 on Blue Note Records, has received critical acclaim. <a href="https://www.mattstevensmusic.com/" target="_blank">Matthew Stevens</a>&nbsp;is a guitarist from Toronto, Canada, known for his unique style that blends jazz, rock, and ambient music. He has released several solo albums and contributed to over 70 recordings by renowned artists.

Brazilian Music at the Brewery

For April 2024, <a href="https://www.departurearts.org/" target="_blank">Departure Arts</a> activates Sunday afternoons at <a href="https://roundheadbrewing.com/" target="_blank">Roundhead Brewing</a> in Hyde Park, MA with the Brazilian music duo of cellist <a href="https://catherinebent.com/" target="_blank">Catherine Bent</a> and Brazilian mandolin prodigy <a href="https://www.instagram.com/ian_coury/" target="_blank">Ian Coury</a>. The local duo will perform their unique take on Brazilian instrumental music for the first set starting at 3p, then later in the afternoon they will be inviting other musicians to join for a “roda de choro”. Audiences may find themselves on a journey into the rootsy dance rhythms of forró, or lifting their voices in a cathartic samba. Choro musicians, bring your instruments! Catherine Bent, an alumna of Cirque du Soleil, has performed and recorded with Joe Jackson, Lee Konitz, Donna Summer, and many others. She is regarded in Brazil as the leading cellist in choro. Ian Coury is an award-winning 10-string bandolim player and composer from Brazil who has shared stages with Brazilian legends like Toninho Horta and Hamilton de Holanda. The two have a musical connection that transcends their backgrounds and crystallizes around their passion for Brazilian choro music. Choro (pronounced “shoh-roh") is an instrumental music that has its origins in late 1800s Rio de Janeiro. It's been likened to New Orleans jazz, and shares that tradition's improvisation, soulfulness, and often irrepressible joyfulness.

PULSE: A Live Music Experience

<a href="https://www.departurearts.org/">Departure Arts</a> and <a href="https://www.mfdynamics.com/">MF Dynamics</a> present PULSE, a live music experience with Boston-based percussionists, composers, and digital media artists Maria Finkelmeier, Denver Nucholls, and Emma Turrell. Join us for an all-ages concert as we experiment with sound, light, and storytelling in the community room at <a href="https://roundheadbrewing.com/">Roundhead Brewing Company</a> in Hyde Park, MA.   The night kicks off with <a href="https://www.denvernuckollsmusic.com/">Denver Nucholls</a> and Emma Turrell, an electrifying duo who take the stage with their high-energy music, featuring the resonant sounds of the vibraphone and drums. Next up, <a href="https://www.mfdynamics.com/">Maria Finkelmeier</a> performs her original music for marimba, electronics, percussion, and voice as a sneak preview of her upcoming album. Through sound, composition, and mixed media work Maria shares inspiration with her former self, from messages of strength to cautionary tales. The concert will be illuminated by the talents of artist and lighting designer Karim Badwan.    The event's finale will unveil a new multidimensional collaboration between MF Dynamics, Departure Arts, multi-disciplinary recording artist <a href="https://www.instagram.com/haawws/?hl=en">HAAWWS</a>, and Roundhead Brewing Company set to launch in Spring 2024 - stay tuned for launch!   Doors: 5:30p Live Music Performance: 6:00p Tickets are pay-what-you-can (suggested $15+), all proceeds support our community artists.   Support local! Keys & Community: A Piano Festival

Through the generous support of the&nbsp;<a href="https://massculturalcouncil.org/" target="_blank">Mass Cultural Council</a>, piano&nbsp;focused&nbsp;music will fill the walls of the Roundhead Brewing Company stretching genres across Jazz, Latin, Pop, Classical, and more. &nbsp; Our&nbsp;Keys &amp; Community: A Piano Festival&nbsp;will be a series of short concerts of solo and duo performances, each honoring the magic and power of the piano’s live acoustic sound. Melody Figments LIVE

Experience the music, move in the web, and own the moment with "Melody Figments Live" by Maria Finkelmeier of <a href="https://www.mfdynamics.com/">MF Dynamics</a>. This immersive multimedia activation in partnership with <a href="http://www.illuminusboston.org/">ILLUMINUS</a> and <a href="https://www.departurearts.org/">Departure Arts,</a> brings together live music, technology, and art for an unforgettable experience transcending traditional performance practice.    Finkelmeier will perform a 40-minute set of original music featuring the marimba, electronics, and live motion-tracked visuals at Roundhead Brewing.
