Open Studios 2024 at the StoveFactory

StoveFactory Open Studios in Charlestown is a one-stop, all-under-one-roof art studio tour! 2 Day Event: Dec. 7 and 8, 11 am to 5 pm each day Visit 3 floors of artists' studios and an art gallery within an industrial, redesigned factory space. Upon entering, receive a program and "punch card" to tour each of the open studios. Meet artists and learn about their processes. Fiber arts, antique letterpress printing, papermaking, painting, collage, and drawing are among the arts you'll find at the StoveFactory. Free and live demonstrations at various points will be held. On the first floor, the StoveFactory Gallery will showcase artworks in the annual small works winter exhibition of art pieces 12" and under, which make great gifts. Come enjoy a day of browsing, learning, chatting, mingling, and maybe even purchasing art and other craft pieces! Free parking: Non-metered, on-street parking for non-residents is OK on weekends on both sides of Medford Street. In addition, navigate to the parking lot at 511 Medford Street for free parking. Avoid risk of towing by parking only in the spots that have "Reserved for 511 Medford St." signage.

Art in the Park

Art in the Park is a popular annual art event in Charlestown's beautiful and historic City Square Park on the Freedom Trail. Local artists and artisans display and sell their artwork and fine crafts in 30+ booths and tents. This juried art event's vendors will include traditional 2D fine arts such as painting, drawing, photography, collage, and printmaking as well as high-quality handmade crafts such as ceramics and dinnerware, glassware, fiber arts, handcrafted bags, and jewelry. While the event is free to attend and open to the public, all art is available for purchase from each local artist.    A Raffle Table provides a chance for guests to win small donated works of art for the price of a low-cost raffle ticket.     Art in the Park has run for over two decades as a way to bring visual art out into the community of Charlestown for all to enjoy. Art Gallery Exhibition: Inspired by the Sea

Come enjoy a relaxed gallery atmosphere with friends on a Friday night! Inspired by the New England coastline, artist Deidre Tao paints in a fresh, bright, and colorful style that conveys a unique sense of place. Complimentary refreshments and beverages served. In addition to original works, framed archival reproduction prints, unframed prints, and affordable gift-sized art items by the artist will be available for purchase. Find awesome gifts by a local artist for upcoming occasions like Mother's Day, Father's Day, weddings, relocations, and graduations. Boston-based artist Deidre Tao is recognized for her fresh and contemporary paintings of local beaches, shorelines, and rivers. Having lived in this region her whole life, she exhibits her award-winning work in galleries and museums from Boston to Cape Cod and the South Coast. Women Artists of the North Shore

Join art historian&nbsp;Judith Curtis&nbsp;to discover untold stories of early 20th century women artists of the North Shore. Judith's lecture, based on her work as co-curator of the 2015&nbsp;"Strokes of Genius: Women Artists of New England"&nbsp;exhibition at the Rockport Art Association &amp; Museum, will delve into the lives and works of influential artists Jane Peterson, Marguerite Pearson, Emma Fordyce McRae, and others. Through her engaging slide presentation, Judith will highlight how color, design, and subject matter helped establish these women as experts in their field despite facing immense challenges in the male-dominated art world of their time. Don't miss this unique opportunity to gain insight into the creative journeys of these remarkable women and learn how they paved the way for future artists. Doors open at 5:00. Complimentary refreshments. Lecture is from 5:30-6:15 followed by Q&amp;A. Wild New England: Captivating Expressions of Nature Nearby

A full day of visual arts at historic City Square Park, Charlestown! 35 quality juried artists include painters, ceramicists, leather artisans, jewelers, printmakers, glass blowers and more. Art in the Park in Charlestown has been running for more than 20 consecutive years each September, and is a well-loved event in our community. Not too large and overwhelming, while offering enough variety to stay for 1 hour or more, you can meet the artists, chatting directly with those who make their own work. Free to attend and browse, family friendly, on the Freedom Trail and tourism trolley circuits. Opening Reception – Light and Shadow: Bringing Art To Life

Come to see a large group visual art show of diverse, multi-media works by local artists on the theme Light and Shadow: Bringing Art To Life.  The curated artwork focuses on the behavior of light on subject matter, its shadow, and how this relationship renders depth, dimension and drama as a result. The artists' opening reception is free and open to the public. Enjoy the StoveFactory Gallery, housed within a 19th century factory building, home to the Artists' Group of Charlestown and artists' studios. The Artists' Group of Charlestown hosts the annual Open Studios for its 20th Anniversary at the StoveFactory Studios and Gallery! Sat/Sun, Dec 3-4, from 11-5. Free admission, open to the public. Meet local artists in your community and find amazing gift items, discover beautiful original art for your home, and get behind the scenes as you see works-in-progress in the studios. Attend live demonstrations of interesting art practices such as letterpress printing, joomchi, sgraffito pottery, interior design, and encaustic. Come and support local art and design here in a converted 19th century stove factory that has housed artists' and artisans' workspaces for the past two decades!
