Drag Party | Trans BIPOC Pastoral Residency Celebration

Come party with us during PRIDE month as we celebrate our inaugural Trans BIPOC Pastoral Residency program--the only one in the nation! There will be good food, sweet tunes, and Drag Queens, Kings and Beings! The fabulous DeShay Freemyer-Jackson featured in HBO's "<a href="https://www.hbo.com/were-here">We're Here</a>" will be there! Come dressed in drag, in festive attire, or just as you are and remember: our joy is our resistance. The event is wheelchair accessible, pet friendly, kid friendly and will be hosted outdoors in our lush garden space. Attendance is free and all are encouraged to donate to the residency program <a href="https://www.brightonallstonucc.org/transbipocpastoralresidency">here</a> so we can fund this great initiative. The program enables Trans BIPOC folks to get placement in their first pastoral job as they are the folx who have the hardest time getting that initial pastoral placement. The Brighton Allston Congregational Church is Open and Affirming, which means that we recognize and welcome all people of every race, age, ability, gender and sexual orientation as created by God. Build a Raised Garden Bed for the Allston Brighton Food Pantry

The Allston Brighton Food Pantry celebrated 50 years of feeding the community in 2024. We successfully piloted a raised garden bed program in 2023 and won a grant to build more raised garden beds in 2025. We need your help to assemble new raised garden beds that will feed the community fresh food! You do not have to be affiliated with a religion to volunteer. We care for the only green space in Brighton Center at the Brighton Allston Congregational Church. Gardening has been proven to:<ul><li>Be beneficial for your physical and mental health</li><li>Boost strength, memory and mood</li><li>Calm you after stressful events</li><li>Foster feelings of connection</li></ul>We have a garden club that is open the public that meets once a month. We always need volunteers every month of the year to help with gardening tasks like planting, raking, weeding, etc. Questions? Tres Gatos Dinner to Support Immigrants

Tres Gatos in Jamaica Plain is donating 20% of their proceeds from the evening of Tuesday February 25, 2025 to Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA). Come eat a delicious meal for a good cause! After dinner, check out the cool record and book store at Tres Gatos. Reservations recommended, walk-ins welcome.

Allston Brighton Food Pantry Thanksgiving Food Distribution Volunteer Event

The Allston-Brighton Food Pantry will be giving away turkeys and groceries so that everyone can celebrate Thanksgiving. Volunteers are needed to greet guests, make food baskets, give out the food, and assist in our thrift store. Volunteers are needed from 8:30am to 1pm at 404 Washington Street in Brighton. We have a special need for volunteers who speak Cantonese, Russian, Spanish or Portuguese. Children and families welcome. Mission Statement The Allston Brighton Food Pantry provides nourishing food at no cost to members of the Allston-Brighton community. We’re dedicated to maintaining a welcoming atmosphere respectful to all community members without regard to race, religion, social position, ethnicity, gender, age, or sexual orientation. Description In 1974, the Brighton Evangelical Congregational Church (founded in 1827) created the Allston Brighton Food Pantry. In the past 50 years, the Allston Brighton Food Pantry has increased services and community support to include a supper every Wednesday, 22 weekend grocery distributions a year, a free 24/7 community refrigerator, a partnership with the Brighton Marine to serve veterans and their families, distribution of CSA farm shares in partnership with the Allston Brighton Health Collaborative, a thrift store, and an initiative to provide free fruit and vegetable seedlings. In 2022, we provided groceries to over 2076 families in our Saturday distributions- serving over 5183 individuals in total with our grocery distributions. In addition we provide a weekly hot supper and additional groceries to an average of 85 individuals, totaling over 4000 served annually. Beyond food assistance, we provide a place where everyone is welcome and the entire community can come together to help each other.

Founded in 1974 by members of the&nbsp;<a href="http://www.brightonallstonucc.org/" target="_blank">Brighton Allston Congregational Church</a>, the&nbsp;<a href="http://www.abfoodpantry.com/" target="_blank">Allston Brighton Food Pantry</a>'s mission is to promote greater access to healthy, nutritious food and reduce food insecurity in the Greater Boston community. We do this primarily through our bi-weekly food distribution, our weekly community suppers, and our 24 hour community fridge, as well as other initiatives feeding local veterans and community members in need. BACC Garden Clean-Up 

The Brighton Allston Congregational church is having a garden clean-up to prepare the gardens for the annual&nbsp;<a href="https://www.eventbrite.com/e/allston-brighton-food-pantry-fundraiser-dinner-tickets-923749037237?aff=oddtdtcreator" target="_blank">Allston Brighton Food Pantry Fundraiser on September 12</a>. Everyone (regardless of religious affiliation) is invited to join to help beautify the only green space in Brighton Center while we prepare to raise funds for our food pantry that feeds hundreds of people who do not have food security. Clean-up tasks include weeding, removing leaf litter, raking, hedge trimming and trash removal. This is a great way to build your resume, meet friendly new people, give back to community and enjoy self-care as garden work is proven to improve your mental and physical health.
