Newton Celebrates Independence Day

Join us in Newton for an unforgettable afternoon and evening of music, food, community, and fireworks as we celebrate Independence Day and America 250! Join us at 1pm for a carnival featuring kiddie amusement rides by Cushing Amusements, local artisan and craft tents and business exhibitor booths. There will be live music at the gazebo all day to enjoy while sampling a variety of food trucks parked around the grounds.  At 6:00 PM, this year's headliner, the Bo &amp; Bill Winiker Band, take to the main stage with their special "Salute to America 250" performance. This high-energy tribute to American music and spirit is sure to have the crowd singing, dancing, and celebrating all evening long! Come hungry and enjoy delicious offerings from a variety of food trucks while soaking in the festive atmosphere with family, friends, and neighbors.  At 9:10 PM, look to the skies for the grand finale—a spectacular fireworks display that will light up the night over Newton! location: Albemarle Road, Newton

Newton Harvest Fair

For over 40 years Newton has celebrated the change of seasons and gathered as a community at the Harvest Fair in Newton Centre. This year stop by the carnival on Saturday October 15th from 10am – 5pm.  Come back Sunday October 16th starting at 11am, to share great food, peruse unique hand- crafted goods and learn about local businesses. Stop by the GreenEXPO and discover ways to create an environment in better balance with the natural world. There will be live entertainment on 2 stages featuring many of your favorite local performers. Take home your own personally decorated pumpkin courtesy of Wegmans Chestnut Hill. And of course, don’t miss seeing the delight of the kids enjoying the ever-popular caterpillar roller-coaster at the Cushing Carnival!  For more information contact Newton Cultural Development at <a href="mailto:pgannon@newtonma.gov">pgannon@newtonma.gov</a>. See you at the fair!

Cushing Amusement Carnival with Kiddie Rides, games and fair food comes to Newton to kick off Harvest Fair weekend! Carnival open Saturday October 15th at 10am until 5pm. Free Summer Concert

Join us for our Summer Concert Series at the Newton Centre Bowl*. Originally from the Dominican Republic, Angel Wagner began his career playing with a cheese grater and fork! At age eleven, Angel went on professional tour with a Merengue band, later performing in Miami and at Madison Square Garden in New York. Angel has performed with such groups as Aramis Camilo, Orchestra Cafe, Luis Ovalles and Manguito. Angel formed Grupo Fantasia in 1993, with musicians from all around the world. Over the years, Fantasia has performed at the Calle Ocho festival in Miami, as well as touring extensively throughout the Northeast. His performances include a multitude of schools, universities, colleges, fundraisers, private functions and musical galas, allowing him to team up with the most exclusive event coordinators and party planners in New England. Fantasia has won many awards in Latin categories, including Boston's prestigious 1993 Expose Award for BEST SPANISH BAND (1993), runner up in the Hispanic American Chamber of Commerce Award for Education (1999) and the 2003 Boston Music Award Nominee for BEST WORLD CLASS ACT. Grupo Fantasia are the 2009 winners of The New England Urban Music Award for Best Latin Band. *Newton Centre Bowl is the open area below the hut off Tyler Terrace in Newton Centre Playground.
