Enjoy games, gardening and cooking demos, live animals, tractors, and resources for building a climate resilient Boston. Enjoy food sold from Fresh Food Generation, music by Tjovi Ginen and fresh flowers and produce from local&nbsp;urban&nbsp;farms. Submit your most impressive harvests to our&nbsp;urban&nbsp;vegetable competition and win a prize!&nbsp;Fun and learning for all ages. Free &amp; Welcome to all. 29th Annual South End Garden Tour

The garden gates open in Boston’s South End for our annual South End Tour. This always-popular neighborhood event provides an opportunity to explore some of the South End’s most spectacular private outdoor spaces. Thread through alleys and walkways for a self-guided, behind-the-scenes look at gardens ranging from intimate, informal, and even quirky spaces designed by resident gardeners, to the work of noted landscape designers — many of which are open to the public only on the day of this tour. The tour rotates through the neighborhood opening new gardens every year. All proceeds support our gardens and educational programming throughout Boston’s gardens. ALL tickets are will call and can be picked up on the day of the tour. Check-in and pick up your tour booklet at the Library Park next to the South End Branch of the Boston Public Library, 685 Tremont Street. The booklet serves as your ticket to the gardens and contains a list, descriptions, and a map of the sites. The tour is self-guided. We only cancel in the event of severe weather.. Toast to spring with fresh, unique cocktails featuring locally grown and foraged ingredients and zero-proof options! Join us in the beautiful Rutland Washington garden to learn how to mix up drinks during a fun and interactive evening. Along the way, you’ll learn about unusual seasonal ingredients like sassafras twigs, rhubarb, and flowers, along with classic cocktail techniques. Ticket includes two drinks made during the class. The Rutland Washington Community Garden is located at 1561-1565 Washington Street in the South End. Rain date Friday, May 31st.

Spring Tree Identification Walk

In the first weeks of spring, trees provide clues to their identification by way of their spring blooms, bark, and other characteristics. Alex Klein, local Arborist and Herbalist (<a href="http://alexkleinherbalist.com/?fbclid=IwAR31K4_aWMSYbBioDPPh2baS3Vhy2DU3jy0dU49s1toCu_C9ycwE3AX2d0Q" target="_blank">alexkleinherbalist.com</a>), will lead us through trees at the garden, pointing out key features that will provide you the skills to identify cultivated fruit trees, ornamental trees, and wild trees commonly found in the city, as well as some of their medicinal applications. Southwest Corridor Community Farm is located at 57 Lamartine Street in Jamaica Plain, a short walk from the Stony Brook orange line station. This is a sliding scale ticketed event. Proceeds from this class directly support food justice and green space access in the Trustees’ network of 56 community gardens across Boston. The 48th Annual Gardeners’ Gathering brings Boston-area growers of all kinds together for a free day full of informative workshops, engaging exhibitors, networking, and inspiration. In honor of the 50th anniversary of Mel King’s Massachusetts Gardening and Farm Act, the Gathering will focus on celebrating our invaluable legacy gardeners, taking a look back on the incredible community growing work in Boston over the last half a century.
