Attention Campers! The Camp NexGen Series returns by popular demand. Come to one or come to all! Do you recall jumping in the pool with all of your friends? Is nothing as refreshing on a hot summer day as bug juice? Press pause on adulting and, join us to relive your childhood camp experiences at the Boston Synagogue! Take a trip down memory lane with gimp, corn hole, giant Jenga, connect 4, and more with the best of company around the fire pit on the patio. Celebrate Shavuot - Evening Learning with Food

Join us for Tikkun Leil Shavuot -- A interactive nighttime study session to prepare ourselves for the moment of revelation with pizza, beer, ice cream, cheese cake + lactose-free options! SESSION 1:&nbsp;THE RITUAL THAT SURVIVED...EVERYTHING: THE OFFERING OF FIRST FRUITS IN DEUTERONOMY Celebrate the revelation at Sinai &amp; our receiving the Torah. Shavuot is the concluding festival of the harvest in Israel! We will study the biblical post-harvest declaration ritual recited by farmers when bringing their 'first fruit' offerings. Get a glimpse into the ways in which our ancestors connected to God, the land of Israel, &amp; how they blended the spiritual with the practical. Perhaps, we might learn from them how to do the same during these complex times. BREAK FOR DESSERT! SESSION 2:&nbsp;JERUSALEM OF GOLD --CELEBRATING ISRAEL THROUGH SONG! Hadar Ahuvia's Nefesh + Dance Party

Join us at BackRoom Boston for a performance project weaving together contemporary dance, traditional Ashkenazic music, feminism, &amp; neo-Hasidism! Plus a Community Yiddish dance party! This performance spans across generations &amp; genres. It reaches back to Adhadar’s traditional, yiddish speaking great-grandparents, reclaiming cultures nearly destroyed by anti-semitism. nefesh lingers in the details of shuckling, vocal sliding, unmetered singing &amp; krechtsing, that distinguish the eastern European Jewish soundscape. It foregrounds the labor, sensuality, &amp; life-giving nourishment of sacred service, &amp; the wisdom of the body, our wandering - navenaden - altar. Reception with light bites &amp; open bar follows the performance. Out of Darkness & We Will Outlive Them Double Bill

In Honor of Yom Hashoah, join us for a Powerful &amp; Inspiring Afternoon of Music of Remembrance A Double Bill &amp; West End Lyric's Season Closer. This Double Bill conveys the vastness of the Holocaust’s scope through emotionally rich musical portraits of those caught in its grasp. Out of Darkness: For a Look or Touch&nbsp;by Jake Heggie, with libretto by Gene Scheer. Out of Darkness is based on the writings and memories of two Holocaust survivors. The second act in this moving song cycle illuminates Nazi persecution of gay people during the Holocaust through the experience of Gad Beck and Manfred Lewin, two idealistic young lovers in 1930s Berlin. Joel Clemens, baritone will be the voice of the work &amp; he will be accompanied by Rafe Schaberg on piano. We Will Outlive Them… Letters to Rivka from Galicia. Music composed by Quinn Gutman A song cycle world premiere for this music for piano &amp; soprano! This inspirational cycle is based on letters from the Zeider family living in Galicia (~1925-1948), to their family member who was fortunate to emigrate to America, Rivka Teitel. The title of this work is in honor of the determination of Jewish resilience during the Holocaust: “We will outlive them”. Jessica Bloch, is the great-granddaughter of Rivka and will be performing these pieces with Rafe Schaberg on piano. The translations of the letters from Yiddish to English were done by the late Hannah Baer have, and have been set to music by composer, Quinn Gutman. Shabbat with Cinco de Mayo-themed Dinner

Let's welcome Shabbat with a festive Shabbat Service followed by a Cinco de Mayo-themed dinner with food, drink, schmoozing and making connections so bring a friend! 6:30 PM Spirited services led by Rabbi Navah Rabbi Navah will lead this fun, festive service with prayer and song! 7:30 PM Community Dinner  Cinco de Mayo-themed dinner follows including Mexican cocktails: Ranch water, Paloma's, &amp; a new take on Margaritas! Shterna & the Lost Voice,  a new Yiddish folktale 

BackRoom Boston &amp; The Boston Festival of New Jewish Music Presents: Shterna &amp; the Lost Voice,&nbsp;a new Yiddish folktale&nbsp; Join Us for a Musical Crankie!&nbsp;&nbsp;A Storytelling Adventure with Original Music by the Magid Ensemble! What’s a Crankie?&nbsp;&nbsp;It’s a long scroll that illustrates a story, as it unwinds. Based on a folktale by A. C. Weaver &amp; inspired by traditional Yiddish folklore --&nbsp;&nbsp;follow&nbsp;&nbsp;a young woman’s quest from the realms of the dead to the gardens of the immortal – all to restore her friend's lost voice.&nbsp;&nbsp;The narrative is told through live original klezmer music --&nbsp;&nbsp;&amp; Kiah Raymond's crankie incorporates shadow puppetry inspired by Jewish papercut art. Introducing The Magid Ensemble&nbsp;&nbsp;–&nbsp;a new collaboration featuring award-winning klezmer musicians &amp; composers Mattias Kaufmann, Raffi Boden, &amp; Rachel Leader, Yiddishist storyteller A. C. Weaver, &amp; visual artist Kiah Raymond. The Magid Ensemble explores the interplay of sound, story, light, &amp; shadow to create expressive &amp; immersive storytelling landscapes. This dynamic performance is geared towards audiences of all ages! NexGen Firepit Schmooze, Drinks & make Pita & Matzah!

Join Rabbinic Intern Carrie to gather around the firepit on the patio for a pre-Passover Celebration! Learn to make pita on the firepit &amp; we'll even try our hands at making matzah! What's the difference between making pita &amp; making matza? Come by to find out! We can enjoy our pita with hummus, High Noon, &amp; beer. All of the chametz -&nbsp;aka yeast&nbsp;must go!

Musical Shabbat with Zach Mayer and Community Dinner

Let’s come together as a community to support each other and celebrate as we gather around tables for a dinner with drinks and schmoozing. Welcoming kids' foods will also be available. There will be seats for NexGen, families and everyone else. 6:30 pm: Musical services led by Zach Mayer Boston-based Saxophonist: Zach Mayer will lead this fun, intimate service with prayer and song! 7:30 pm: Delicious dinner follows services! Community Dinner with tables for young professionals, families, and everyone else! NexGen-ish Pre-Purim Hamantaschen Making

Come make hamantaschen with our Rabbinic Intern Carrie! We'll nosh on some cookies hot out of the oven, &amp; package up others to give as mishloach manot, gifts of food that are one of the main mitzvot of Purim. We'll learn a bit about Purim, sip on wine &amp; beer (or seltzer!), &amp; spend time together. Women of Tin-Pan-Alley Cabaret

Join us (in-person &amp; on zoom) at BackRoom Boston for a West End Lyric performance! Enjoy the Lyrics and Music composed by the Women Behind Tin-Pan-Alley’s greats -- George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Scott Joplin, and Cole Porter Spend a delightful Sunday afternoon at this cabaret. It features works rarely heard from songwriting talents of Kay Swift, Dorothy Fields, Ann Ronell, Dana Seusse, Maria Grever, Irene Kitchings and Bernice Petkere. Get involved! Join us in-person or on zoom at BackRoom Boston for an evening of whimsical &amp; dreamy Yiddish Music!  Levyosn brings harmony-rich arrangements &amp; drives dancing to old gems &amp; new tunes! Levyosn spends their time in joyful exploration of Yiddish song, klezmer, adjacent Jewish &amp; East European folk traditions &amp; original compositions — like a mythical sea creature exploring the ocean. NexGen Monthly Jewish Meditation Series

Join us over the next 4-months for something different! While we live in a society where stress is the norm – learn a different way to de-stress – within a Jewish framework! We’ll be gathering to learn meditation techniques and Jewish texts – that can guide us in our daily living in relationship to ourselves, each other, and the Divine. This group is for anyone, from beginner to experienced meditators. Each session will build upon the previous, but you're welcome to try out just one session or just us for all four. Each session will have a 25-minute guided meditation, a short learning, singing, and time for group reflection and individual sharing. All of this will be followed by tea, schmoozing and more! Additional Meditation dates: March 5, April 2, &amp; May 7

Crash Course in Hebrew 

Join Rabbi Navah Thursdays at 7:00-8:30 PM on Zoom to learn the language of our people!<ul><li>Jan. 4: Refresher session for those that know some Hebrew</li><li>Jan. 11: Start-date for 5-week beginner's class.</li></ul>This course follows the Hebrew Across America curriculum!
