Calmer Con Boston

Calmer Con is a sensory-friendly comics and pop culture convention designed with neurodivergent fans in mind. With a quieter venue, activities rated by energy level, and a Calmer Space to rest and regulate, Calmer Con is designed to be a welcoming place for attendees with autism, ADHD, anxiety, and related sensory sensitivities. This year, our special guests are cartoonists Judd Winick (Hilo) and Ellen T. Crenshaw (The Baby-Sitters Club), miniature painter Phil the Glacial Geek, and ADHD Essentials host Brendan Mahan. Activities for all ages include an Artist Alley with professional comic artists, cosplay, tabletop and video games, a Young Adult Lounge, comic workshops, trivia, puzzles, and more! Plus, learn about neurodiversity-friendly organizations at our Professional Resource Fair.&nbsp; Admission is free with registration! Ashland Library Young Artists Comics Fest

ALYAC Fest is a free event celebrating comics and graphic novels, featuring local professional creators and young artists ages 8-18! This year's headliners are cartoonists Kayla Miller (author of the CLICK and BESTIES series) and Lincoln Peirce (author of BIG NATE and MAX &amp; THE MIDKNIGHTS). We'll have workshops throughout the day led by comics creators so kids can learn how to create comics of their own! Kids can showcase and sell their comics, too! We are looking for young artists aged 8-18 to apply for a spot at our Young Artists Tables. Ashland Library Young Artists Comics Fest!

The Boston Kids Comics Foundation Announces the Ashland Library Young Artists Comics Fest! BOSTON, MA -- This year, the Boston Kids Comics Foundation is pioneering a new comics festival that spotlights kid authors and artists: the Ashland Library Young Artists Comics Festival, which will be held Sunday, July 13th.&nbsp; This unique comics festival is special in that it will feature young comics-makers -- kids eight to eighteen who are making their own comics and, now, will have the opportunity to sell and share them with readers. ALYAC will feature a full slate of workshops, live-drawing sessions, book signings, and a Calmer Space for anyone who needs a break from the festivities.&nbsp; Festival Director Meena Jain says, "As the past director of the Boston Kids Comics Fest, the most important aspect, for me, was the kids who sold their comics. I always marveled at their enthusiasm, ingenuity, and creativity. I am so pleased to highlight this aspect of the BKCFest at ALYAC to give kids eight to eighteen a platform to showcase and sell their comics. It's super fun for the adults and shows kids that their work is valued and appreciated. Creating this space for them is absolutely wonderful! Who knows, there might be a Jeff Kinney or Raina Telgemeier in the group." Boston Kids Comics Fest 2024

The <a href="https://bostonkidscomicsfest.org/">Boston Kids Comics Fest</a> is an free, annual event that invites children (ages 5-15), caregivers, educators, and librarians to discover and explore kid-friendly comics and graphic novels. We have been bringing kid-friendly comics to the Greater Boston community for five years, and over 1,000 people attended our last fest! Join us for BKCF 2024 on Saturday, June 8th from 10am to 5pm at Northeastern University’s Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex.
