Boston Jazz Foundation Presents: Albino Mbie

Albino Mbie is a multi award-Winning Musician, Guitarist, Singer, Composer, Sound Engineer, Music Producer, and a Berklee College of Music Professor in Boston. He was born in Kamubukwane District, Bairro George Demitrove, well known as Benfica, in the suburbs of Maputo, Mozambique, the capital city of Mozambique, a country in Southern Africa known for its rich musical and cultural heritage. Fueled by the resourcefulness and determination that have always characterized Mozambicans, he built his first guitar at age 15 from a 5-liter can of oil, scrap wood, and strings made from electrical cords. He moved to the US to attend Berklee College of Music in 2009, being among the first Africans awarded a full tuition scholarship via the Berklee African Scholars Program. In 2013, he graduated with a dual major in Music Production &amp; Sound Engineering and Guitar Performance and dual minors in Acoustics and Electronics. Since then, he has shared his Mozambican roots—music, dance, culture, and native languages enriched by the experience of living and studying in the US with the rest of the world. During the years, he learned to combine rhythmic patterns and musical concepts to create a unique Marrabenta, Nikatche, Afro-Pop, and Moz-Jazz sound. His passion for travel, discovery, experimentation, to be an active touring musician allowed him to share the stage with godfathers of American jazz, such as Wayne Shorter, Joe Lovano, John Patitucci, and more, as well as African giants such as Richard Bona, Jimmy Dludlu, Mulatu Astatke and many more.

Boston Jazz Foundation Presents: Seba Molnar / Farayi Malek

Seba Molnar is an award-winning saxophonist, composer, and educator, based out of Boston, Massachusetts. Originally from Canton, New York, Seba moved to Boston in 2012 to attend the Berklee College of Music. While at Berklee, Seba had the opportunity to study with world-renowned saxophonists George Garzone, Bill Pierce, and Tia Fuller. Seba has made a name for himself as an in-demand saxophonist both as a side man, and leading his own groups. Seba has played and recorded with Grammy Award-nominated artists Patrice Rushen and Debo Ray, jazz legend George Garzone, as well as Mighty Mystic, Java Jukebox, Kat Wright, Jeff Lockhart, Tyson Jackson and many more. Seba frequently plays in Boston and tours around the greater New England area. Seba has also played a number of international shows and festivals like Charles River Jazz Fest, Boston Jazz Fest, BAM’S Fest, Newton Festival of the Arts and the Burlington Discover Jazz Fest. Seba’s talents have also led him to be featured on national TV and radio. Though his music is heavily rooted in jazz, Seba’s curiosity for new sounds and innovation has enabled him to create a wide array of music that transcends genre. In March 2020, Seba released his debut album “Level Up”, featuring mentor George Garzone, with Jens Sweeting, Soso Gelovani, and Clemens Grassman.
