The Last Honest Politician

On October 8, 2026, from 7-8:30 p.m., Gore Place, the historic estate in Waltham, Mass., will host an author talk with comedian and humor columnist Scott Kerman on his book The Duke: Weekly Conversations with the Last Honest Politician. As the home of former Massachusetts Governor Christopher Gore, we are excited to host this program on one of the great 20th century governors of Massachusetts: Michael Dukakis. Kerman brings both comedic expertise and genuine affection for his subject to the evening. The program will be an engaging, conversational look at leadership, Massachusetts political history, and the human side of public life through the author's firsthand experiences and conversations with Governor Michael Dukakis. The talk will be followed by a Q&A session with the author and a book signing. Scott Kerman is currently the humor columnist for The Eagle Tribune, where he writes the popular weekly column, World According to Scott. He is the author of eight books, including the widely read four-book World According to Scott humor series, which has built a loyal and growing following. Scott is also the host of the long-running Boston sports talk show, The Grandstanders Live! and spent over 20 years as a stand-up comedian, with appearances on HBO’s Live from the Aspen Comedy Festival, Comedy Central, and numerous national television programs. General Admission: $10. Members: Free. to purchase, visit goreplace.org. Gore Place is located at 52 Gore Street in Waltham, just off route 20, on the Waltham/Watertown line.
