From Sensors to Smart Systems

Overview Learn how a machine makes sense of the world, and how to program sensors that make your own life better. Multisession Duration: 10 hrs completed over 5 days. By purchasing a ticket, you are committing to attend all meetings included in the multisession. Scroll down to reference the Agenda on Eventbrite to indicate which ticket to purchase for that session! Class Description Students learn how an electronic system makes sense of its surrounding environment — how physical phenomena like motion, distance, and proximity are converted into electrical signals, how those signals are processed by a microcontroller, and how sensors can make an electronic system smarter through real, working closed-loop behavior. The course builds toward a final capstone project — a people-tracking device that distinguishes between someone who taps an NFC tag versus someone who simply walks by — giving students a complete, functioning piece of hardware they wired and coded themselves. The materials fee for this class is $15. This is separate from the ticket price and is to reimburse the instructor for any tools or materials used in this class. This will be paid once, directly to the instructor at the start of the first class meeting. This instructor accepts Venmo, Zelle, and Cash. Target Audience A complete beginner is okay. The course is ideally better for high schoolers and up due to some mathematical explanations in the course SPOTS ARE LIMITED! Secure your spot on the Eventbrite link attached to this listing!
