Fixing the T: A conversation with MBTA general manager and CEO Philip Eng

The World Cup games in Foxborough were one of the biggest and most high profile tests of the MBTA and for its general manager and CEO Phillip Eng. After <a href="https://www.bostonglobe.com/2026/07/19/metro/mbta-commuter-rail-world-cup-foxborough/">successfully transporting</a> nearly 20,000 riders during the games, Eng and the MBTA are back to work upgrading aging equipment and improving stations in an effort to increase reliability. What’s next for the transit system and how will Eng and his team make the most of a <a href="https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/mbta-phil-eng-upgrades-funding-fares/3890340/">flush new budget</a> announced by Governor Maura Healey?
