Sal’s Pizza Celebrates 35th Anniversary with Pizza Eating Contest in Boston

On Friday, April 11th, Sal’s Pizza, a family-owned and operated business for 35 years, will celebrate their 35th anniversary with a Pizza Eating Contest at the Sal’s Pizza Brookline Ave. location in Boston. 35 participants will race to see who can devour Sal’s infamous three-pound, 19-inch extra-large pizza the fastest. The contest is sponsored by Pepsi and proceeds will benefit the <a href="https://www.mattlight72.com/">Matt Light Foundation</a>. The top three winners will take home exciting prizes: <ul><li>First place will receive $1,000 and free Sal’s Pizza for a year!</li><li>Second place will win a $50 Sal’s Pizza Gift Card</li><li>Third place will get a $25 Sal’s Pizza Gift Card. </li></ul>There is a $15 entry fee per participant, and spectators can attend for free. There will be an-on site raffle to give away three pairs of premium seats to any regular season Boston Red Sox game. Pepsi will also be on hand sampling new products. A Dialogue with The Veda: Hindu Scripture and the Transcendentalists

When we think of the connections between the Transcendentalists and Eastern culture, we often think about Henry David Thoreau’s seminal essay&nbsp;Civil Disobedience&nbsp;and its influence on leaders of non-violent protest movements throughout the world, including Mahatma Gandhi. However, the exchange of ideas went both ways, and the thoughts and writings of Thoreau and Raph Waldo Emerson were influenced by Hindu Philosophy. On Saturday, June 22nd, 34 Park invites you to kick off summer at its&nbsp;Summer&nbsp;Luau, where guests can feast on a Hawaiian inspired menu, enjoy specialty cocktails, and listen to live entertainment under the outdoor tented space. 34 Park will offer various specials. For starters, enjoy the&nbsp;Tuna Poke&nbsp;with a sesame seed cone, mango and bang bang sauce, or the&nbsp;Lomi Lomi Salad, with summer tomatoes, sweet onions, basil, passion fruit, olive oil, and sea salt. For those who are feeling adventurous, try the show stopping&nbsp;Kalua Pig Roast,&nbsp;with a side of roasted yam salad or Hawaiian mac salad.&nbsp;If you are craving a classic, try the&nbsp;Ham &amp; Pineapple Pizzettas, or the&nbsp;Huli Huli Chicken&nbsp;with coconut rice. For those with a sweet tooth, make sure to try the&nbsp;Pineapple Coconut Cannoli&nbsp;or&nbsp;White&nbsp;Chocolate Macadamia Cookies. Hawaiian themed attire is encouraged and the Summer Luau will also include a live DJ, dancing, games, and decor. Tickets are $65 including tax and gratuity, and can be purchased online.&nbsp;Tickets are non-refundable. 21-plus only.

Pulling 4 Paws – NEADS Truck Pull 2024

<a href="https://neads.org/">NEADS World Class Service Dogs</a>, based in Princeton, Mass., invites spectators to take part in the excitement of this year’s NEADS Pulling 4 Paws Truck Pull on Sunday, April 28, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Polar Park in Worcester, Mass. Join us for a day of friendly competition as teams of 15 will put their strength to the test to see who can pull an 18-wheeler the fastest! Spectators can take in the view of the park with a behind the scenes tour and browse pop-up shops with goodies for humans and animals alike. Grab a classic ballpark hot dog and a soda before moving close to the action to cheer on teams from the stands. Other food, beverage and beer will also be available for purchase. New this year is Zoomies 4 Paws, a super-special 5K race around the park just for the kids, who will get to run alongside WooSox mascot Smiley Ball. Other fun-filled activities of the day include access to the WooSox batting tunnels, Giant Jenga and other family friendly games, plus photos with Smiley the WooSox mascot and DJ Mike Majikas spinning tunes. All of this is included with the spectator ticket.

NEADS World Class Service Dogs Fall Graduation Ceremony

On November 5, <a href="http://www.neads.org/">NEADS World Class Service Dogs</a> will celebrate its newest group of Service Dog and Assistance Dog teams at its <a href="https://neads.org/training-placement/graduation/">Fall Graduation Ceremony</a>. 18 of this year’s 34 graduating teams are expected to attend in-person.   This is a FREE public event, and all are welcome. Tickets are not required.   The event honors the most recent Service Dog and Assistance Dog teams and allows family, friends and the general public to hear firsthand from clients how a NEADS dog has changed their lives. As NEADS client KateLynne Steinke says, “It takes an extraordinary dog to give someone an ordinary life.” NEADS also recognizes the many people involved in the breeding, training, and placement of the dogs: staff, volunteers, donors and other supporters. The NEADS Spirit Award will also be given to a volunteer who has demonstrated a passion for and commitment to our mission over an extended period of time.
