The Greater Roxbury Book Fair

The third annual Greater Roxbury Book Fair, celebrating a love of books and reading and championing local authors, returns in 2025 on Saturday, May 17th from 9am to 5pm at the Roxbury Branch of the Boston Public Library.  The Greater Roxbury Book Fair’s third annual event connects books and readers – and authors and artists and readers – in the Greater Roxbury community, and inspires new excitement and broader readership. Springing from the Roxbury community's deep connections to books and reading, the fair features local and aspiring authors – and showcases the creativity of the residents of Greater Roxbury. The Fair will spotlight local and BIPOC authors from the Greater Roxbury area and beyond. It will have panels, workshops, local author and literary organization exhibitors. Featured authors include Autumn Allen (All You Have to Do), Lisa Braxton-Reid (Dancing Between the Raindrops), Terry E. Carter (Brown Skin and the Brilliant Sun), Candelaria Collins (Jump, Jump, Jump Stacy), Mwalim DaPhunkee (Land of the Black Squirrels), Carmen Fields (Going Back to T-Town), Valerie Foxx (Our Love Story), Nikki Greene (Grime, Glitter, and Glass), Jannie Ho (The Lost Mitten), Régine Michelle Jean-Charles (Looking for Other Worlds), Tiffany Jewell (This Book is Anti-Racist), Kaija Langley (A Century for Caroline), Lori Lobenstine (The Barking Puppy) Shaina Lu (Noodle and Bao), Crystal Maldonado (Get Real, Chloe Torres), Omo Moses (The White Peril), Hannah Moushabeck (Homeland), Ray Anthony Shepard (A Long Time Coming), Lisa Stringfellow (Kingdom of Dust), Susan Tan (Pets Rule), and Mia Wenjen (The Traveling Taco).

The Greater Roxbury Book Fair’s first annual event celebrates the love and passion the Roxbury community has for books and reading. This event will connect books and readers – and authors and artists – in the Greater Roxbury area, and beyond, and inspire new excitement amongst readers.  The Book Fair will have panels, workshops, and local author exhibitors. It will shine a spotlight on this year's Boston Public Schools (BPS) summer reading program. Exhibitors include local authors, artists, and creators, as well as Boston and Massachusetts literary organizations including: 826 Boston, Boston in 100 Words, the Boston Public Schools, Boston Writers of Color, Comics in Color, Lit for Black Kids, the Massachusetts Center for the Book, Mass Poetry, More Than Words, Raising a Reader, Reach Out and Read, Room to Grow, Wondermore, and Writers Without Margins.  Entertainment will include DJ Troy Frost and Berklee College of Music. Join in the excitement, and enjoy free samples from a few Nubian Square restaurants.  The Greater Roxbury Book Fair is a Savor the Square event hosted by The American City Coalition (TACC) in collaboration with the Roxbury branch of the Boston Public Library, Roxbury Main Streets (RMS), and Frugal Bookstore. Springing from the Roxbury community's deep connections to books and reading, the fair showcases the creativity and talent rooted in Greater Roxbury.
