Beers & Gears: REI Co-op and Lamplighter Brewing Co. Group Ride and Launch Party

As part of our Boston Pedals Together campaign, join us for a special collaboration celebration day with Lamplighter Brewing Co. and REI Co-op. The afternoon begins with a Mobile Bike Shop Pop-up, where REI bike techs will be onsite outside the REI store for free bike checks and quick fixes before the ride from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. We will also be offering e-bike rides with the Co-op Cycles DRT e3.1 Electric Mountain Bike. Women on Wheels will lead a free, social pace 10-mile bike ride on the newly finished Somerville Community Bike Path through the Cambridge area. This ride will be no-drop and riders of all levels are encouraged to join us. The ride will depart at 6:30 p.m. and last approximately 60 minutes, including a few stops. Helmets are required and participants are encouraged to bring ride snacks, water and a flat kit. If it is actively raining, the ride will be postponed to Thursday, May 16 at the same time and place. The launch party will be from 7:30 - 10:00 p.m. in the LamplighterBrewing Co. taproom.

Guided Mural Ride through Cambridge hosted by Cyclopolitan and REI Co-op

This flat route will be accessible to riders of all abilities and ages. The route is expected to be no more than 4 miles in total, with a stop halfway. Colorful dress is strongly encouraged. As part of REI's Boston Pedals Together spring cycling campaign, the morning will begin with a Mobile Bike Shop Pop-up from 1-3 p.m., where skilled REI mechanics will be offering quick bike fixes and inspections before the event. REI will also be offering e-bike rides with the Co-op Cycles DRT e3.1 Electric Mountain Bike for anyone looking to try out the wonder of an electrified ride. REI Co-op and Bikes Not Bombs bike donation drive

Donate your used bike and pass along the joy of biking to a new rider. Bring your used bike* to any of the 5 REI Massachusetts (Boston, Cambridge, Hingham, Reading, or Framingham) locations on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. REI will collect and take it to Bikes Not Bombs and they'll get it into the hands of someone in need. Located in Jamaica Plain/Boston, MA, Bikes Not Bombs uses the bicycle as a vehicle for social change to achieve economic mobility for Black and other marginalized people in Boston and the Global South. The first 10 people to donate a bike at each REI location will receive a $30 REI gift card. *Bikes Not Bombs cannot accept anything that has significant rust, kick scooters, anything with a gasoline motor, tricycles, or trail-a-bikes.

REI x Lamplighter Bike Ride & "Beers & Gears" Party

Join REI, MassBike and Lamplighter Brewing Co. for a day of ‘Beers &amp; Gears’     As part of the Boston Pedals Together spring cycle campaign, join in for a celebration day in collaboration with <a href="https://lamplighterbrewing.com/brewery-locations/">Lamplighter Brewing Co</a>. (REI’s neighbor at the Cambridge Crossing location) and REI Co-op.     REI Co-op and Lamplighter Brewing Co. are teaming up to provide a limited-edition release of a special beer called Well Spoke. This beer will be available at the brewery launch party on May 13 as well as in both of Lamplighter’s Cambridge-based tap rooms and in cans (limited quantities, while supplies last).      Saturday, May 13 Schedule   11:30 a.m. - Meet at REI Cambridge store for guided bike ride   12:00 p.m. - Ride departs   1:30 p.m. - Ride returns to Lamplighter Brewing Co. (across the street from REI Cambridge)   2-5 p.m. - Well Spoke launch party at Lamplighter Brewing Co., Mobile Bike Pop-up Shop and e-bike test rides     The day begins with <a href="https://www.massbike.org/%22%20/t%20%22_blank">MassBike</a> leading a free, social pace 10-mile bike ride through the Cambridge area, led by local members of the Boston cycling community. This ride will be no-drop and riders of all levels are encouraged to join us.     To join the ride, meet at 11:30 a.m. at the REI Cambridge store (181 Morgan Ave #1, Cambridge, MA 02141). The ride will depart at noon and last approximately 90 minutes, including a few stops. Helmets are required and participants are encouraged to bring ride snacks, water, and a flat kit. If it is actively raining, the ride will be postponed to Sunday, May 14 at the same time and place. All riders receive a complimentary beverage of their choice after the ride in Lamplighter’s taproom (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available).     The ride will conclude at Lamplighter Brewing Co. (110 N First St, Cambridge, MA 02141) for the launch party of a special, limited-time REI &amp; Lamplighter collaboration beer called Well Spoke. This thirst-quenching North German Pilsner brewed with imported malts and citrus-forward hops is the perfect refreshment to toast with friends to the completion of the bike ride. Even if you are not joining us for the ride, feel free to join us for the launch party – it will run in Lamplighter’s taproom from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. A portion of sales from the day benefits <a href="https://bikesnotbombs.org/">Bikes not Bombs</a>. Bikes Not Bombs uses the bicycle as a vehicle for social change to achieve economic mobility for Black and other marginalized people in Boston and the Global South. Test bikes on the Co-op Cycles Generation e1.1 Electric Bike will be available as well.   Lamplighter Brewing Co.’s Cambridge Crossing “CX” Taproom is open from 12 pm – midnight on Friday and Saturdays. Please note that the taproom is 21+ after 6:00 pm, and guests will be asked to show a valid government-issued photo ID at this point. Dedicated parking is not available, so the following modes of transport are encouraged: walking, biking, Uber-ing, or taking public transport – the Lechmere T-stop is right nearby, the 69 bus runs directly to the area, and there’s a Blue Bike station right next door.   The <a href="https://www.rei.com/stores/cambridge">REI Cambridge</a> store is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturday &amp; Sunday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. The Cambridge REI store validates parking at the 222 Jacobs Street Garage and it costs $10 after validation on the weekends.     Cheers to a day of beers and gears!

Join your friends from REI Co-op for an afternoon of fun and getting your bike ‘spring-ready’ including free basic bike tune-ups, a guided bike ride, bike light giveaways, an opportunity to win prizes, and a chance to enter our winter sweepstakes for a $350 REI gift card!   REI will be offering a variety of activities including:  <ul><li>Massachusetts Bicycle Coalition (MassBike) Guided Bike Ride- Meet at 11 a.m. at the corner of Park Drive and Riverway roads (the start of the Muddy River Pathway across the street from REI Boston/Fenway; GPS coordinates: 42.344507, -71.104461) for a free, guided 10-mile bike ride through the Esplanade area, led by local members of the Boston cycling community. The ride will depart at 11:30 a.m. and will last approximately 90 minutes, and will include a few stops.  Register <a href="https://www.massbike.org/reiride_230225">here</a> for the ride. Helmets are required and participants are encouraged to bring ride snacks, water, and a flat kit.  If it is actively raining or snowing, the ride will be postponed to Sunday, February 26 at the same time and place.  </li><li>Free Basic Bike Tune-up and Inspection- If your bicycle needs a little love since the last time you used it, join REI bike techs rink-side (at the Rink at 401 Park) for a free basic bike tune-up and inspection before hitting the pavement this spring from 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Look for the green REI tent outside of the ice skate rental tent for bike drop-off and pick up a free bike light provided by MassBike’s Lights Brigade Program.  </li><li>Ice Skating- The Rink at 401 Park will be open for ice skating from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. <a href="https://www.therinkat401park.com/">Click here</a> for more information about the ice rink and to make reservations. REI Co-op Members also receive free ice skate sharpening services all season long** (Boston/Fenway store location only).   **One skate sharpening service is available per member per visit and proof of membership required. Upon inspection, REI reserves the right to reject providing ice skate sharpening services based on the condition of the equipment. Equipment must be clean and free of rust and damage to qualify. Skate sharpening services are only available at REI Co-op Boston and offered through the end of February.
