The 8-Bit Big Band: The Great Video Game Songbook

The 8-Bit Big Band is a Grammy Award-winning contemporary symphonic jazz orchestra created to celebrate and reimagine the most beloved music from video game history. Founded in 2017 by Charlie Rosen, the ensemble brings together some of today’s most sought-after musicians to give iconic video game soundtracks the full large-ensemble treatment. Drawing from the traditions of classic big band, symphonic studio orchestra, jazz, funk, rock, Latin, and contemporary popular music, The 8-Bit Big Band transforms music from legendary games into bold, cinematic, and highly creative new arrangements. Since the release of its debut album, Press Start, followed by Choose Your Character, the Grammy Award-winning Backwards Compatible, and Game Changer, The 8-Bit Big Band has built a global audience of video game music fans, jazz listeners, and orchestral music lovers, earning millions of views online and hundreds of thousands of followers and subscribers across platforms. Returning to Berklee by popular demand, The 8-Bit Big Band offers a high-energy concert experience that is both nostalgic and musically sophisticated, presenting video game music as a powerful standalone body of work while pushing the boundaries of how these iconic soundtracks can be heard, performed, and celebrated.
