Music for Food presents: Parlando - L'Histoire du Soldat

Boston’s fourteenth Music for Food season opens September 24th, 2pm, in Brown Hall with a program of Stravinsky’s A Soldier’s Tale–narrated by Niles Hawver and Kim Kashkashian–and a world premiere for solo viola, all to benefit Women’s Lunch Place.  Music for Food Boston’s 14th Season–Parlando–is all about musical storytelling. Each program features both a piece with spoken-word elements and a world premiere for viola, composed and performed by New England Conservatory students. Our beloved friend Tom Novak curated this season’s opening concert, which includes Igor Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du soldat (A Soldier’s Tale), narrated by Kim Kashkashian and Niles Hawver, and a new viola work by Lingbo Ma! In all MFF concerts, artists donate their stupendous talent and valuable time and audience members give what they can to support a local food relief organization. This concert’s generous artists include Paul Biss, Tom Van Dyck, Sangwon Kim, Tom Novak, Dan Bauch, and Cara Pogossian. Admission to the concert is free with a suggested donation ($40/adult, $15/student), no tickets or RSVPs are necessary, and ALL proceeds will go to Women’s Lunch Place–a day shelter serving women experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty in the greater Boston area. All concerts raise resources and awareness in the fight against hunger, empowering any musicians who wish to use their artistry to further social justice.
