Annual Summer Movies on the Lawn to Present National Film Registry Selections Library Features ‘Clueless,’ ‘Rocky,’ ‘Back to the Future,’ ‘A League of Their Own’ and ‘Apollo 13’ The Library of Congress will host its annual Summer Movies on the Lawn series starting on July 9. The series featuring films from the Library’s National Film Registry will be presented Thursday evenings at sundown on the southeast lawn of the Library’s Thomas Jefferson Building.  This year’s summer film series is part of the Library’s celebration of the nation’s semiquincentennial, America 250: It’s Your Story. The scheduled films include: July 9: “Clueless” (1995) (2025 National Film Registry). There will be a live performance from Naptown Brass Band starting at 7 p.m. before the movie begins at sundown.  July 16: “Rocky” (1976) (2006 National Film Registry). There will be a encore playing of the recording of Yilian Cañizares’ spring 2026 performance at the Library starting at 7 p.m. before the movie begins at sundown. July 23: “Back to the Future” (1985) (2007 National Film Registry). There will be an encore playing of the recording of Christian McBride’s spring 2026 performance at the Library starting at 7 p.m. before the movie begins at sundown. July 30: “A League of Their Own” (1992) (2012 National Film Registry). There will be a performance by Matthew Van Hoose, organist for the Washington Nationals, starting at 7 p.m. before the movie begins at sundown. Aug. 6: “Apollo 13” (1995) (2023 National Film Registry). There will be an encore playing of the audio recording of Stanley Clarke’s spring 2026 performance at the Library starting at 7 p.m. before the movie begins at sundown.
