L'Armonia Boston Presents: Sato & Chai

If ever there was a prototypical Romantic tormented genius, Robert Schumann is he.  Suffering from violent mood swings, hallucinations, and delusions, Schumann nevertheless produced some of the most timeless, successful music of the 19th century.  Vigor, humor, pathos - the music abounds in expressive vitality.  His Piano Quintet is his finest work for small ensemble.  It was not only wildly popular even in Schumann’s day, but also inspired the fine offerings from Brahms and Dvorǎk, among others.  It’s one of our favorite pieces to listen to and to play.  <br>In addition, we’ll be treated to a Beethoven sonata for piano &amp; violin, played by these two, making their Boston debut and whom we are privileged to join.  Pianist <a href="https://www.shuannchai.com/">Shuann Chai</a>’s refined artistry has been enjoyed the world over, and always to great acclaim.  A specialist on period keyboards and a master chamber musician, Shuann’s performance on an American copy of an Austrian fortepiano from the 1830s will fill Gore Place with incredible color and nuance.  <a href="https://www.shunskesato.com/">Shunske Sato</a> can be found nestled in the forefront of every style of violin playing today, from 17th century repertoire on period instruments to virtuoso music written yesterday on modern violin.  If you search “baroque violin” or “Bach” on your Youtube and Shunske isn’t among your first 10 hits, your Youtube is broken.  An opportunity to hear this scholar, artistic director, concerto soloist and recitalist must be greeted with as much excitement as ours to play with him.<br>Fortepiano by <a href="https://www.rjregierfortepianos.com/">R.J.
