Free Community Day & Makers’ Market

About Community Day Visit us on the first Sunday and second Wednesday of each month for free museum admission. Take this opportunity to explore our collection and current exhibitions. Makers’ Market Join us for a special market from 10 am to 4 pm co-curated by NMWA and SAMASAMA, a collective dedicated to celebrating diasporic narratives through art and gathering. This market will feature a lineup of women and gender-expansive makers, artists, and vendors offering handmade jewelry, art, ceramics, and vintage finds in the museum’s Great Hall. As part of this collaboration, SAMASAMA has curated a selection of artists, bringing their unique perspective on heritage, identity, and storytelling. Adding to the experience, enjoy a live DJ set by Les The DJ, setting the tone for a vibrant day of creativity and community. Open Studio Join NMWA educators in the museum’s studio on the 4th floor from 10 am to 4 pm for free, self-directed, drop-in art-making activities inspired by artworks on view. Activities and inspirations change each month. Visitors of all ages are invited to participate. Children 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Collection Highlights Tour Explore the museum’s collection during these engaging 45-minute drop-in tours at 11 am and 2 pm. These guided experiences feature six to eight works on view, highlighting the creative contributions of artists from the 16th century to today. Meet in the Great Hall.
