DeShaun Gordon-King’s SOUND RITUAL: Catalyst

Friday, April 9, 2027 | 7 PM | Pickman Hall @ Longy School of Music (27 Garden St., Cambridge, MA) Created by DeShaun Gordon-King’s Sound Ritual is an immersive musical experience that brings together therapeutic music, chamber music, jazz and improvisation, electronics, and guided meditation to create a shared space for reflection, restoration, and connection. Drawing inspiration from traditions of sound medicine alongside contemporary musical practice, the performance invites audiences into an environment of deep listening where music becomes both artistic expression and communal ritual. Created in response to the loneliness and isolation brought into sharp focus during the COVID-19 pandemic, DeShaun Gordon-King’s Sound Ritual explores music’s capacity to foster presence, belonging, and connection. Through an expansive sonic landscape, the experience invites audiences to reconnect with themselves, one another, and the possibility of imagining a more compassionate and connected world. The result is an immersive experience where listening itself becomes a practice of presence, restoration, and shared humanity. Seating: SOUND RITUAL: Catalyst offers a variety of seating options designed to support the immersive experience, including traditional chairs and yoga mats. Your ticket provides admission to the performance but does not guarantee a specific seating format. Seating options will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Accessibility: Pickman Hall is wheelchair-accessible. The wheelchair entrance is located in the back of the building, along with limited parking. Public Transit: Longy's Pickman Hall is located just north of Harvard Square, past the Cambridge Common and across the street from the Sheraton Commander Hotel.
