COME FOR THE CULTURE — FREE TICKETS AVAILABLE! We’re opening the doors with a limited number of free tickets. Once they’re gone, donations will help us keep the celebration going and support the venue rental, musicians, artists, production, and community activities. DAY OF THE DEAD FEST | DÍA DE MUERTOS FEST - 3RD YEAR!!!! Presented by ALMA Boston Curated by Zaira Meneses Join us for an afternoon celebrating Día de Muertos, music, dance, art, storytelling, and the rich cultural traditions of Mexico and Latin America. Day of the DeadFest is a community celebration inspired by the many ways families and communities honor their ancestors, remember loved ones, and celebrate intergenerational connections. Rather than presenting Día de Muertos as a single tradition, the festival highlights the diversity of Indigenous, regional Mexican, and Latin American traditions through music, poetry, storytelling, dance, visual art, food, and community participation. LIVE MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT Son Jarocho A 50-minute live performance featuring music, singing, zapateado, and audience participation, celebrating the rich musical traditions of Veracruz. Regional Norteño Music A 50-minute live performance celebrating Northern Mexico's musical traditions. Cumbia A 50-minute live celebration of cumbia and Latin American dance music. DJ — Raíces en Movimiento Our DJ will be with us throughout the entire festival, creating a musical journey through Indigenous, traditional, classical, Mexican, and Latin American music. The DJ will provide music during transitions, activities, arrival, and community dancing. STORIES, POETRY & TRADITIONS Indigenous Traditions & Storytelling Discover stories and cultural perspectives connected to ancestors, remembrance, community, and the relationship between life and death. Poetry & Stories for the Departed A special moment of poetry and storytelling honoring memory, family, ancestors, and those who are no longer with us. Calaveritas Literarias Enjoy this beloved Mexican literary tradition of playful and creative verses inspired by Día de Muertos. COMMUNITY DANCE We are bringing together volunteer dancers of all ages and backgrounds to celebrate our diverse roots through dance. Volunteer dancers will learn a simple choreography in advance and will receive the music and a practice video. They will perform twice during the festival, wearing traditional or regional clothing from their countries and cultures. Everyone is invited to join the community dance. ART & FAMILY ACTIVITIES Pinta la Memoria — Community Mural Children and families are invited to participate in a collaborative art installation inspired by Mexican mural traditions. Color, create, and add your own contribution to our community mural. The installation will also serve as a photo backdrop throughout the afternoon. Community Ofrenda Visit our community remembrance space and honor someone you love. Guests are welcome to contribute photographs, names, flowers, or messages in memory of loved ones and ancestors. ART EXHIBITION Explore artwork inspired by Mexican and Latin American culture, memory, identity, tradition, and Día de Muertos.
