Busch-Reisinger Museum Lecture: Hito Steyerl: Germany and Identity

Berlin-based filmmaker and writer Hito Steyerl will speak about her work related to Germany, including essay films addressing the rise in racist, xenophobic, and anti-Semitic violence after German unification. The artist’s early documentary films Germany and Identity (1994), The Empty Centre (1998), and Normality 1-X (1999–) were recently acquired by the Busch-Reisinger Museum and are prominently featured in the special exhibition Made in Germany? Art and Identity in a Global Nation (on view September 13, 2024–January 5, 2025).

Following the lecture, guests are invited to visit the exhibition on Level 3.

The lecture will take place in Menschel Hall, Lower Level. Doors to the hall will open for seating at 5:30pm. Please enter at Broadway.
